Anonymous, 31 Mar 2018Coming from the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017), IÂ’ll be doing a comparison for those looking to upg... moreWell it is not larger, but more noticeably longer, because of the new 18:9, but in SAMSUNG's way it is 18.5:9, kind of weird though. As expected, more resolution, again, because of that 18.5:9 aspect ratio display, making FHD 1080x2220 instead of the normal 1080x1920 we see on 16:9 aspect ratio smartphones. But one downside like what u said, u have to crop the videos to fill the whole screen, to be honest I recommend brands to go back to 16:9 aspect ratio but keep every other thing the same, however 18:9 aspect ratio is a thing now, so there is no turning back. One of the biggest upgrades for this GALAXY A8 2018 is the chipset, having almost the same processing power as the SNAPDRAGON 660, and it is also meant to compete with the likes of the SNAPDRAGON 820, just like what the SNAPDRAGON 660 is meant to do. I always got high hopes for their own in-house chipsets, especially the raw CPU power, in benchmarks like GeekBench it is definitely better than the SNAPDRAGON 820 found in my XPERIA XZ and XPERIA XZs for multitasking. Don't know how the camera will perform, but it is probably the selfie camera to get more upgrades than the rear. I don't have the GALAXY A8 2018 since I don't buy mid-end smartphones, but I'm recommending it to my friend. It is a great phone really when the price drops, plus it is quite a decent upgrade from the GALAXY A5 2017, EXYNOS 7885 is a way more powerful chipset than its predecessor

Have this phone for about two weeks now and I am generally satisfied with it. The A8 (2018) trumps its predecessor in almost every way.
Both phones are about the same size but the A8 has a slightly larger screen with better resolution. The screen aspect ratio of 18.5:9 is a little awkward and not well-supported to say the least. When watching videos in landscape mode, it wont fill up the full screen and youÂ’ll notice empty black spaces at the top and bottom of the phone. The S8 and Note 8 has the same aspect ratio though, so itÂ’s not a problem specific to the A8. You can only hope app manufacturers support it in the future. ItÂ’s not a major issue for me either ways, and itÂ’s one I can overlook. Downsides of the Infinity Display.
Last yearÂ’s model was lighter in weight but the A8 doesnÂ’t feel heavy at all. After holding and handling it, the difference is barely felt and I got used to it in no time. It actually feels sturdy/sturdier too, as you can read/hear from many reviews.
Contrary to some reviews below, the cameras are actually pretty decent. They wont blow your feet off but itÂ’s a major improvement from last yearÂ’s. The dual front cameras makes your selfies look better and the rear cam got upgraded from f/1.9 to f/1.7. Still no OIS but Samsung threw in phase detection autofocus which is better than nothing I guess.
The phone also feels zippier when scrolling, probably due to the faster chip and bigger RAM. There is no noticeable lag even though I have more than a hundred apps.
The only thing the A8 (2018) lags the A5 (2017) is battery endurance. Both are 3000 mAH, but due to the larger screen in A8 youÂ’ll find your battery draining faster. Nothing a few tweaks in the settings cant solve however.
I got this phone at an unbeatable price of around 490 SGD which is slightly more than 300 Euros. Yes, that was me commenting previously. I would say go for it if you can get this phone on the cheap/at a discount. If not, you might wanna consider other phones at a similar price range like the OnePlus 5T, Huawei P20 Lite and the Nokia 7 Plus.
please tell me...
Apple 7 , nokia 8 , and samsung a8+ 2018
which is good
This phone still cannot beat s7. s7 is the good choice compared to this, better processor, display, camera and features. This phone only front cam and battery.

A5 2017 or A8 2018? (I'm planning to use it for minimum 2 years.) I can get the A8 2018 for about 360€.
Anonymous, 26 Mar 2018The Galaxy A8 2018 is only 249 EUR in France. It's getting very cheap!Can you give a link ?
Silversnap, 26 Mar 2018A8 or Nokia 8.Depends on your needs. If you go travel a lot i recommend A8.
Back camera is not good... screen dislay is creepy bad, my eyes was so interupted, i was wondering what is going on with my eyes?... And it's kind of slower thatn s7 or even my old friend lg
I own this phones about 2 months. In my opinion it is a really good phone value for money and you get samsung optimization in every aspect, battery superb, front camera superb, rear camera really good. Dont forget it is waterproof ip68. Bezel less look, 18:9:5 Feel like flagship price like midrange. You judge it after you use it, rear camera is better than my girlfriend iphone 7, so it is more than enough for the price.

Overall nice but it was so dissapointing with the screen edge. I noticed some fade color arround the edge screen and it looks like a wet mark around the screen edge. Comment below for the same experience. Hope this will be usefull.
AnonD-746634, 23 Mar 2018Front camera is ok, back camera is really bad. It's also full of Samsung bloatware as always. ... moreI own this phone, the rear camera is great what are you even talking about?
Actually, this phone is superb when it comes to the camera department, the back and front both are very good. S7 is a an old device and it is not really the best option to consider when it is compared to this. my friend has an s7 and i own the A8. my device blows his s7 away in almost every part except the rear camera he has more like 1 point above me
