Ok, I went to the store to test the phone and the video stabilization has the ability to be disabled (which is cool), and the focus hunting can be stopped by tapping on the screen while recording (this locks the focus). I bought the phone and will share personal review soon.
Anonymous, 25 Aug 2018you clearly don't know what a notch is.....I think he does. I also didn't pick a phone with a notch just because I think it doesn't look that good compared to thin bezels. That's why I like the S8/A8/S9 etc design.
Anonymous, 30 Aug 2018Yes people I also want to know this. Main reason I looked beyond samsung was the software, but... moreI picked the Galaxy A8 over soms other options just for the Samsung software. I'm used to it and I think it looks much better than stock android and it does add some handy features

Linda, 28 Aug 2018Should I buy Samsung a8 or Nokia 7plus?Yes people I also want to know this. Main reason I looked beyond samsung was the software, but is it actually that bad?
Can the video stabilization be disabled? I don't like how blurry it looks, in fact It looks worse than my A5(2016) that has OIS.
Also, can the constant focus hunting somehow be stopped? In many test videos you can see the focus jumping as the scene changes even a little bit, it's quite irritating.
I have using a8 for a month now. It's a very good phone. Good battery life. Have a great selfie camera. But i think.. the rear camera are worst at low light. But ok for outdoor photoshot.
Updated oreo 2 weeks ago and nothing goes wrong.. the battery life still hold up for a day.
The speaker is no longer a problem. Smooth. Not a single hiccup.
I like this phone so much. Because i don't really like the edge screen so a8 is the best option for me.
Slio, 23 Aug 2018It has a notch so no.you clearly don't know what a notch is.....
Only a few people here complain about audio cut out. On the Samsung US forum some people say it don't affect US version:
I don't understand from the chart it's exactly the same version and it seems like a software issue cause happen at the same time lapse of the sound in the video:
Gagi, 21 Aug 2018Galaxy A8 (2018) or Xiaoami Mi 8 SE ?
At the moment, both of them are available for less tha... moreXiaomi Mi 8 SE has a more powerful processor, dual rear cams, larger display
While Galaxy A8 has expandable storage, dual selfie cams, IP68 waterproofing.
In battery department A8 might have an edge over Mi 8 Se due to its smaller display. Now its totally upto you that which features you prefer more.
Gino76, 19 Aug 2018Shame it doesn't have EIS on the selfie cam which could been remedied with a simple software u... moreYes, the main Camera has EIS and yes you can still customise your on-screen nav buttons after 8.0 update.
A8 user, 22 Aug 2018No, it's not true. You can still edit or customise the on-screen nav buttons just like before ... moreLikewise. I prefer the back button on the left hand side like any other Android out there.
So it is definitely not true about the feature being taken away by Samsung?
Gino76, 19 Aug 2018Is it true that with the Oreo 8.0 update on the A8 & A8+ Samsung has removed the feature t... moreNo, it's not true. You can still edit or customise the on-screen nav buttons just like before the oreo update. I don't like Samsung's button order where the back button is far right so I customised it so that I now have back button far left like in all other android devices.
Nour, 20 Aug 2018Nova 3i or Samsung A8 ?i have spent weeks on the same question . 3i looks and feels super but reading reviews in the brand there is just a feeling that there may be a few things that give the A8 the edge .
I ride bikes and a I.P rated phone would help but a ziplock bad works too..... ill keep the old A5 16 going for a while longer
