The phone has high performance even by today's standards and is not "laggy" at all. If yours is, you don't have a Galaxy Alpha or you have too many apps taking too much RAM, or some virus.
The camera has no optical stabilizer, it's almost the same as Galaxy S5's camera, only a bit better in bright light, it has less purple / blue halo and better color balance. It's a quite decent phone camera even by today's standards. If you rely on Samsung's stupid software "stabilizer" feature to take the shot automatically for you at the right time, you will inevitably be disappointed. Disable that feature.
As for your last paragraph full of curses, I think it's most likely that you should direct them at whoever sold you a fake phone.
This phone is garbage.
Camera has a horrible stabilizer and will take photos without being in focus. If your a statue you might get a good one every once in a while. Battery is junk. Will shut down if your at 15%. General functions are very laggy, even after I sent it in to get reprogrammed and after I did a factory wipe.
I wonder if anyone thinks this phone is good and if they spend most their days in a padded room. I hope who ever decided to release this over at Samsung stubs his/her toes really F*ing hard every single day. I cant wait to absolutely destroy this when my contracts up.
I have been using my samsung galaxy alpha and for a while now and now it shuts off by its self and when i put in my password it stays on for a like 5s then turns off again. plzzzz FIX THIS Problem

It´s a problem that affect a few Alphas and it is a defect in the main board, which need be changed.
i dont know why people wxcited for marshmallow update !!! they dont know that galaxy alpha is an old phone and android 6 will ruin this phone .. 4.4 kotkatt is the best rom for alpha w.r.t stability and gaming and permormance in general.. i think people whose waiting for updates are people that dont know the policy that force people to purchase newer devises .. stock roms are the best roms for any phone .. sorry for bad language

Anonymous, 06 May 2016Yeah. So 7.5% of Android smartphones have the latest version, and Galaxy Alpha is not one of t... moreTaking time is limited by a max or min range, but what you said thatthat its taking time is partially true cz its having no update for time ofof nearly a year and according to 21st century its a decades.80-85% peoples changes theirs handsets in this time period but samsung in backward position.Alpha is good but samsung don't look at itt, update is one of the big thing today. In recent few months Android M running handsets is increasing by an amount of 50%(from 5 to 7.5%) but alpha is still missing M.Still no news when we get M and within few months Android N is comming!
say, 05 May 2016And one more thing, there are very few handsets which are not getting update to the next versio... moreYeah. So 7.5% of Android smartphones have the latest version, and Galaxy Alpha is not one of them yet. It really is a disaster that Samsung isn't rushing to update something that already works quite well, but everyone knows it will be updated eventually and most likely be quite stable, as Samsung's recent updates usually are. And while the already satisfied Galaxy Alpha users wait for the new version which has some nice but mostly not very important extras and changes, you'll keep telling them how sad it is that Samsung takes its time updating a very short-lived high-end compact model that makes up a very small percentage of the company's phones.
