I am using the kitkat version in Grand 2 since Last Saturday and Haven't faced any restating issue or GPS issue or volume button issue or lock screen wallpaper issue reported by others. The only issue I am facing is that the single handed mode is not working properly. After the upgrade my phone has become very fast and GUI is very smooth now. I had GPS problem in 4.3 version and after upgrading to 4.4 the GPS is working fine till now. However, note that my phone was upgraded to Kitkat not using the online update(FOTA) , but at the service centre. The service centre person updated the firmware i front of me and I noticed that he updated it using a software called ODIN and using USB cable connected to the Mobile. As far as I know, this process cleans the whole file system and makes a clean install of the OS- so it deleted all the data and application in the phone(that's one disadvantage), but I think since my phone was updated using ODIN at service centre, I am not facing most of the issues faced by others. As somebody mentioned in this forum, the issues faced by others may be due to some apps installed in the phone which is not yet fully compatible with Kitkat. For example, day before yesterday I was suddenly facing Battery charging issue with Clean master software installed and after uninstalling the cleanmaster and re-booting my phone I am not facing that issue any more.
So those of you who are facing restarting or volume button issue can try a factory reset first and if that doesn't work, take it to a service centre and get it flashed through ODIN.
I am guessing Samsung also might be doing all their testing using flasing by ODIN- which means a clean install and Samsung might never notice all these issues which are faced by FOTA update- so I doubt whether they would fix these issues caused by FOTA update. They might just ask you to go to service centre and get it flashed.
Note that you cannot downgrade the OS back to 4.3 once you have upgraded to 4.4. This is due to some security feature introduced in Kitkat boot loader. This was told by the Samsung service centre guy. That’s a bad news if you want to go back to 4.3.
Personally I feel except the performance(due to better usage of RAM in Kitkat), there is no significant benefit in Kitkat upgrade- so if you don’t want to do a factory reset better not to upgrade. Moreover, you would have lots of limitations of SD Card access(3rd party apps cannot write to SD Card) which is a big disadvantage in Kitkat.

I just updated to android KitKat and after installing it . the whole notification bar turned into white .
The WiFi symbol,the battery symbol everything is in white now
