Samsung Android Firmware Updates

Today Samsung has started sending out the update to Android 8.1 Oreo for the Galaxy J5 (2017). Although the Korean company's Oreo releases have so far been based on Android 8.0, the fact that the J5 (2017) is jumping straight to 8.1 isn't that much of a surprise - the move was hinted at by a benchmark result from May.

The new software is currently rolling out in Poland, but if no show-stopping bugs are reported then expect it to spread across the world very soon. Once you get the update notification and install it, you'll be on software version J530FXXU2BRH5. If you are in Poland and haven't yet seen that, perhaps it would be good to check for the new version through the Download updates manually option in the Software update section of the Settings menu on your device.

Aside from the usual goodies included with any Oreo update, you're also getting the August 2018 security patch level, which is the current one obviously.

Never buy any LG or Samsung phone. Buy Sony or Nokia or Google Pixel. And updates will be your friend. You won't wait too much.
