Used the money to buy an S7 Edge for the wife. Even made the hack to accomodate all 2 SIMs and microSD cards.
S7 Edge camera is so superb that we send up taking more pictures and especially that motion picture where it takes an additional first 3 seconds video that one snapshot takes up about 8mb. Also take precious 60fps 1080p and 4k video records of our child's baby moments.
One minute of 60fps 1080p takes just over 200mb, 350mb per minute for 4k. Take into account downloading 4k movie contents talking up 5 to 20GB, the Note.5 runs out memory space very fast.
This is main reason we never want the Note.5 as it has NO memory expansion. Potential buyers just need to stay away from this.

Large amounts of data (photos, songs, maps, videos and movies) are all stored on the SD. Apps and app data are stored on the phone. Apart from initially copying the data onto the micro sd card there is no impact on speed.

I owned the first 4 notes and I would have got a GN5 but 32GB (before OS and apps) is not even close to meeting my needs. The GN6/7 will be back on track with 232+GB so I will probably be getting it.

Downloading 4k content can mean 5 to 20 GB of data space. I do it on my phone rather than wait it out at home. Yeah, I do it to watch crisp quality movies on a 4k monitor. This, and VR content are compelling reasons for large-capacity memory expansion. 1 hour of VR can go up to 21 GB.

Tcool, 29 May 2016Yes Mr. Bunyip22, than you for conceding that Note 5 is better than your plastic phones Note 3... moreYou were replying to TN not me...
I've never said the GN4 is better than the GN5 for everyone. The GN 5 has better looks, build (more fragile though), better camera, speed, battery life (non removable though) etc.... BUT without a SD card the GN5 limited me to 32GB less the OS and apps so i'm down to probably 10-15GB which is PATHETIC in 2015/2016. If the GN5 has an SD card i would have brought one and loved it.
The S7 DUOS only allows 32GB (ignoring the hack) which is also pathetic by Samsung.
The GN6/7 will almost certainly improve every area over the GN5 and GN4 so it will most likely be my next phone. I don't want the GN6/7 duos so it will offer at least 232GB of storage space.
Not happy with the fact that i cant add my mem card from my note 3.
Love the phone and the new features. The speed and usability is awesome. Seamless syncing and restoring from old phone.

... moreNot to disappoint - sealed battery is still not my cup of tea. Read my comment again. I might not even get the next Galaxy Note because of that one thing, and might as well get a Note 4.
I use the Note as a tool, not something to show off as a possession. That fragile glass back still irks me.

Btw even we Note5 users can buy the next note series smartphone and get all the postive points you wrote from the upcoming note flagship.
You were talking as if we Note5 users can't buy The Next Note?..i thought you are a little inttelligent but it seems you are totaly dumb to just plainly assume things abt Note5 users. LOL
..I know that even if samsung wud offer you Sh!t like only 23gb user available internal space ( where one cant even use the external card as internal storage) and the same sh!t camera of s7 you will still buy it ,
I know you are too desperate to buy the Next note series as you did not buy Note5 Mainly cause of NON REMOVABLE BATTERY what happed now ? How come all of a sudden you are now accepting NON REMOVABLE BATTERY ??. Previously you use to write repeatative boring comments against sealed battries, what happen Now ??LOL..
This type of behaviour proves that you are a HYPOCRITE person ...
dont get too much angry as pointing out my spelling mistakes and typos just to change the topic is not working for you either LoL.
TN, 29 May 2016Smartphones are never investments. They depreciate, and become outdated in a matter of 3 to 4 ... moreYes Mr. Bunyip22, than you for conceding that Note 5 is better than your plastic phones Note 3 and Note 4 and the all expensive 32GB S7 Edge with easy to scratch home button.
At last you are agreeing that 64 GB Note 5 is mostly available worldwide.
PARAG B, 29 May 2016The "successor" is a key word here.but it seems that the best note5 haters like TN & Bunyi... moreSmartphones are never investments. They depreciate, and become outdated in a matter of 3 to 4 months, as Mr. T and you have. The $800 to $935 you spent on the Note.5 is now worth LESS THAN $500, as Mr. T is wonderfully telling us everytime. Someone here already posted that it's now $415.
Note.5 was a failure from the start. It is only you and Mr. T who are all ok for something substandard with no memory expansion, and other features missing from past Galaxy Notes. 64GB is not enough without memory expansion, and not making that 64GB model (NOT "modal" which means in a state) available everywhere just is not winning everyone to get it.
64GB internal WITH memory expansion - now THAT is something i want. I'd still want a removable battery actual - as my experience with the S7 Edge's battery is just ok, but not for my real power requirements that I really need without charging for the day.
For sure we'll get:
*liquid cooling pipe system
*water-resistant - wonderful protection for rainy days.
*memory expansion gives 8 times more possible memory space - all the way to 256GB microSD than mere 64GB internal.
*at least f/1.7 sensor for even better low light camera capture
*240 fps slow motion recording
*updated CPU and GPU processors
*better battery at leas 98H endurance rating, versus only 85H
Tcool, 28 May 2016Yes it will have a minimum storage of 64GB like Note 5 variation in most countries. *Battery ... moreThe "successor" is a key word here.but it seems that the best note5 haters like TN & Bunyip22 are ready to accept whatever samsung is going to offer them as a next note series flagship as they cud nolonger wait for to own the next note series flaghip.LOL it does not matter to them even if it will come with only 16 gb internal mem as long as it has sd card slot or it has the same downgraded camera like s7 cameras ( even without removable battery battery as TN was expecting) .LOL Now they are just justifing there future investment rather than being practical .LOL
TN, 28 May 2016Yes, whatever next Galaxy Note will have (other than the obvious S Pen):
*... moreYes it will have a minimum storage of 64GB like Note 5 variation in most countries.
*Battery endurance of more than 24 hours on heavy use like Note 5.
*The price will be reasonable, not like the 32GB S7 Edge more than $1000.
*Home screen button will not easily scratch.
*Better camera like the Note 5.
*No plastic body.
For sure it will be the successor of the best Note phone ever, Note 5.
TN, 28 May 2016Yes, whatever next Galaxy Note will have (other than the obvious S Pen):
*... moreYou are right there, water-resistance and memory expansion don't matter, with or without those features won't make any difference what is important is it is not PLASTIC!
At last you agree that 64GB Note 5 worth less than $500 is the best phone with longer battery endurance and best camera ever until Note 7 comes that will follow the foot steps of Note 5.
S7 Edge with only 32GB storage worth more than $1000 is a pricey phone with nothing to offer. Thank you for agreeing on that last part. Hehe.
