Also happy it's wider in hand than the Note 7. Looking good so far. Can't wait to get one!
Tech.Chief, 04 Sep 2017Thanks for sharing. How was the screen ratio? Especially viewing mobile version of web pages a... moreI could not try to use the browser cause there was no connection but the device itself feels sturdy, the rounded screen corners are so much less annoying to look at compared to the S8 family so that's good. Personally I don't like that so that is a bonus. The form factor with the tall screen just looks a bit strange, I had the feeling I was holding a remote controller or anything like that. It's slighty wider than my Note FE and about 1cm taller. The fact that it's so tall and for it's size narrow is something that is going to be a thing to get used to. It's the opposite of the Galaxy Mega 6.3 which is very wide and even taller, but the Note8 feels much smaller but a bit too tall somehow. The new aspect ratio 18,5:9 is something to get used to.
Galaxy Note 8 has started shipping in the US. Smart move Samsung!

IP6X. Dust tight.
IPX8. Protected against the effects of continued immersion in water depths greater than 3.29 feet. The exact conditions are specified for each device by the manufacturer.
If a phone has IP68 rating then im not sure which part means rain. I am very sure rain doesn't mean continued immersion...
Anonymous, 04 Sep 2017why would you dunk your phones into water and risk it? sounds like you asking for trouble There is actually no risk if it says IP68. But not all units made are fail safe.
Sai, 05 Sep 2017To those who are a little confused on the dual sim variant.
I have spoken to Samsung live cha... moreYeah, and the J7 Pro which cost practically 1/3 the price of a Note8 had two SIM slots and a dedicated microSD slot. Go figure.
For the wifey, she had been issued a work number. I actually had to slice her work SIM card and glued it exactly onto a microSD. She has two SIM cards working, and memory expansion. A little hack that can be replicated, and it's not like replacing that sealed battery.
At least she has no need to maintain a second device or phone. Do it on your own risk, but I personally just need one number.
LG V30 smokes the Note8 in terms of specs, and will be much better priced! Waiting eagerly for the V30
To those who are a little confused on the dual sim variant.
I have spoken to Samsung live chat about the dual sim variant and its support of the micro sd card. Conclusion the second slot can be used for either a 2nd sim or a micro sd card
So either have a
a) sim in both slot 1 and slot 2
b) sim in slot 1 and micro sd card in slot 2
You CAN NOT have 2 sim cards and a sd card running all at the same time.
I personally need 2 sim cards to separate my business life from my personal life, but on holiday or when going out I need the extra storage for photos and videos and always keep a micro sd card attached to my key ring for whenever I need it.
From my personal experience, I have realized that phones room smoother without a memory card, especially when opening up or utilizing the file mangers.
I hope this little bit of information becomes a little help to anyone who needs it.
ps. I had spoken in regards to the UK variant and suggest this information reflects on all other models.
Went to the shop yesterday where the Note 8 was displayed. Held it in my hand and played with it for a while. The phone looks okay although I would have prefered the Note 7 shape. I wish Samsung allowed to program the Bixby button. Some folks wold prefer to have it as a dedicated camera button. The phone is nice, the edge not so pronounced like in the s8, which I like. However, the price scares me away.

Not that they are meant to be dunk in water. All brands who make water resistant phones clearly warn customers against doing so.
