The funniest thing with note 8? Actually screen diagonal is 5.6 in 16:9! The truth is it feels like it has a smaller screen than note 7 or 5. It's only taller. And that's a nightmare for me.
I bet, by Nov Dec, Prices will break 550$ Resistance! Maybe Dark Blue color and VR coupled available!

Basically, the screen is about an inch taller than my old Note 3, with almost the same width. Note8's enhanced HDR mode is pretty incredible for TV shows from Netflix that I have been watching.
The dual apps launching from the Apps Edge is pretty useful, like combining Youtube on top, while browsing with the very tall screen. I'm enjoying the extra area.
I'm managing to get about 4.5 hours of usage time with with a mix of Netflix, Youtube, and browsing on just FHD resolution, brightness slider to just 30%. It came to 40% left after 5 hours of usage time (it's the weekend and a good time to test it). Yup, taking out the 2nd SIM card, sticking to just wifi and lowering the brightness helped tremendously. With the 40% left, 6 hours SOT is achievable with a lowered setting.
It still means I have to plug it in so it could last till the night before I can get back home. No deep discharging to keep the battery healthy.

There is no switch to turn on the inductive charging pad.
Hahaha! Open your mind, close minded professor!
And you also need to unplug the wired charger after charging your battery case or phone, so what is the difference?

Actually it's one of the features that tend to prolong the lifespan of a device to (near) infinity.

The.Neighbor, 06 Oct 2017Yes, charge when you can. :-)Charging it via wireless charger is very convenient and make life easier.
I enjoy its clear (transparent) cover without sacrificing the looks and weight.

Older Mate8 is much faster in loading pages and opening games, compared side by side. Double tap volune key to click photo instantly, double knuckle tap for screenshot, slide on nav bar to scale screen, connection speed on notification bar, alarm clock ring from mobile off, and many things much appreciated on Mate 8. I purchased Note 8 only for the S-pen.

I tried two SIM (the second for cheaper faster data) with QHD on, with no battery optimized. Even with just texting and not even 1 hour of mixed wifi and data, I got 2:45 Hours of Screen on time over some 26 hours period (not counting the 5+ hours turned off while I was asleep).
AOD was turned off, and it gave me just some 7 to 10% of saved battery compared to my previous when it was turned on. Some 39% was left on the 26th hour of turned on. Fiddling with it just for some 3 minutes with looking the settings would drop the power by 2%. The largest amount of battery is really going to the powering of the 6.3" screen. I was even active in turning off all radios if I didn't need them.
Just look at the screen shots of my battery usage. You have to consciously have things turned off, screen to a lower setting of brightness and resolution.
Yes, you will need to constantly charge whenever you can. Turn off radios when not in use. Turn off AOD. Hit optimize to turn off active apps.
If you calculate the numbers of the SOT with the percentage battery usage, with TWO SIM cards you get a maximum of only 4:30 Hours of screen on time over a day's period. Yes, you really have to keep charging every time you can, and keep the Note8.
This is the real battery usage, and you can only possibly hit above 50% battery left by light usage of the Note8. The screen just guzzles up power!!! I'm going back to a single SIM card as I've been hitting some 50% of the internal memory and really need memory expansion instead.
