Is it possible to set the always on display to go off after several minutes? For example, on my Nokia Lumia 1020 I can set the glance screen to be on for 10 minutes, after which it switches off. On the Note8 I saw only the option to set times, like between 7am and midnight on, at night it's off. But I didn't see an option to set it on after you put the phone on standby for 10 minutes, or half an hour, or whatever time is given for that. Anyone knows?

The screen and camera is way better than Note 4 but battery life is not as the screen takes a lot. Its durable with a back cover and tempered glass which I suggest
The battery can be replaced only at service center. Its expensive right now you could wait a while and price should drop by end January
Akaaash, 09 Dec 2017Honest Question toNote 4/5 users who switched to Note 8?
I have been using a note 4 since M... moreNote5 was never an upgrade from the Note 4 - sealed battery, no memory expansion, more fragile, lost IR remote, less battery, and only 32 GB model for most countries.
I had the Note 3, Note7 for 45 days, and now Note8. Yes, I can say the f/1.7 camera, bigger and brighter screen, bigger internal memory, water-resistance, better processor, more RAM at 6 GB, better S Pen. No IR remote, but now I use wifi remote method.
Battery is slightly lower in use because of the bigger and brighter screen compared with a Note 4. Battery change for any sealed battery will need you going to a service center. Another problem is the glass back - very annoying with fingerprint-prone which I had to place a vinyl skin, which I did myself: http://flic.kr/p/CQmUXA These two can be solved wth a Zerolemon battery case - topping up the battery charge with small interval charging and helping it between 40 to 80% will prolong the internal battery, and longer use without the need to plug in during the day.
A full charge on the Note8 similarly with almost the same as the way you use your smartphone will give you a total of 6 hours Screen On Time (SOT) on some 12-hour stretch. So, if you had a ZL 10,000 mAh battery case, you'd have a theoretical 15 to 18 hours of SOT total. That's at least 36-48 hours stretch as a heavy user.
Yes, the 64 GB internal storage, and 6 GB RAM can make this last for the next 4 years. Memory expansion with up to 256 GB microSD card is just awesome! It is the only Galaxy Note8 that's allowed up to 10,000 by 10,000 resolution when using Sketchbook 3. My Note 3 with 3 GB RAM can only do 4000 by 4000 pixels. That's 100 megapixels versus 16 megapixels.
Akaaash, 09 Dec 2017Honest Question toNote 4/5 users who switched to Note 8?
I have been using a note 4 since M... moreTwo SIM cards yes, but only one is in real use.
You can not simultaneously use both SIM cards.
Honest Question toNote 4/5 users who switched to Note 8?
I have been using a note 4 since March 2015. Undoubtedly it was the best buy at that time, and IMHO still holds up to the flagship phones of 2017. Fast forward to 2017... (dang Note 7 didn't reach my country) my Note 4 though still brilliant, has started showing its age.
I am a pretty heavy user, having gone through 2 extra batteries in the past 3 years. My usage involves mostly watching videos, photography and listening to music. simple question to you:
1. Is the phone durabe, in terms of battery replacement scenario?
2. Is the screen way better than note 4 approx (515ppi)?
3. Will the Note 4 get atleast 2 more years of Android/security updates?
4. Is the dual camera setup worth paying the extra dough?
5. Is the form factor easy to hold and use on a daily basis?
6. Has the functionality of s pen evolved vs the earlier note versions?
7. Looking back after 1 year, do you think this phone would still hold up to its competitors?
8. (Speculating here) Is this phone evolutionary enough..example the note 5 was like an upgraded note 4. Will note 9 be an upgrade to note 8 or totally different?
Thanks for reading patiently :)
I have question about Note8 . Im using Note8 from over 2 month , i want to know that should i use single sim or should use two sims . Hows performance if im using both sims simantaniousaly . Is there any performance issue if im use two sims . Or should i use only single 4g sim .

I still can't get over how old design still being used by Apple what a joke.
galaxy note 8 is a feature and future proof mobile.
breathtaking display.
outstanding sensors and biometrics, one word amazing.
s pen how useful it is only who knows who use it.
not expensive compare to apple and pixel phones,in my country i heard that people are buying iphone x in above 1 lakh (1600$).i think some companies are encouraging only price not feature.
cons;
a little weired design comared to galaxy s8 plus.
sound a big cons. for me.my htc m8 is way better than sound it,lg did a great job in sound imrovement also.again and again samsung never concenreated on sound quality.
battery could be bigger and better like redmi mobiles.
overall rating of mobile in my thinking is 8.5 in 10.
value of money rating is 10 by 10 comare to other mobiles.
thanks guys.

Anonymous, 07 Dec 2017Iris scanner has become faster then face id by not having a swipe on the new update.Yeah, it's a setting you have to turn on under iris scanning unlock - that was the default, and I'm guessing not a lot of people knew that. Pressing the power button, and without having to swipe or pressing the virtual home key, Iris scanner unlocks your Note8.
Or is it you just take out your phone and the iris scans for your eyes without a prompt? That'd be cool.
