The Oreo update screwed up my stable connection with the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter. My older devices work, and it used to with my Note8 on Android 7.1.

Yes, the driver for the Microsoft device is updated. Just connects for 3 seconds, and disconnects. This is a big issue since I use my Note8 for demonstrating drawing procedures to students.

Looks like I'm flashing back to Android 7. There aren't anything I'll miss from the Note8 update.

After hearing since positives on the battery for Oreo update, I went ahead with the install. Battery is not an issue for me since I only cahrge up to 80%, then charge when it's hitting above 50% - I keep a modified magnetically attaching Zerolemon battery handy.

Yup, as the reviews have been showing - it's mostly sight visual changes. None of the much more useful picture in picture function for Netflix to minimize, or the smart face + iris scanning unlock.

One big thing I've notice is the LTE suddenly is much more receptive on an area that is usually very hard to connect. Either this is just a coincidence that my service provider has improved the area's antenna signal, or the update has boosted has improved reception.

But at least it keeps the specific message alert tones you've already set before updating to oreo. Still, it's pretty stupid for samsung to remove such a nifty feature from their own messaging app. You can try the app SMS Popup to get back that function. However, i've always been against third party apps for basic functions so it's annoying for me to even have to consider it now. Boo indeed.

I've an international unlocked version and just updated to oreo yesterday. I've noticed an improvement in speed as well as in battery life. It feels a bit smoother too but not by much. I mean the nougat version was already pretty smooth.

But now i'm getting hours on average use that i used to get with battery saving mode so that's a huge plus.

All fine and dandy, but I still haven't received any update whatsoever, regardless of it being worth to upgrade or not. I have an unlocked Note8 but still nothing while even carrier versions are able to upgrade.

After all the clamor for an update to Oreo, there aren't anything to actually new that makes the Note8 significantly improved by a step.

Who needs color choices for Edges alerts? Wow, there are new AOD clock faces - what a revolution. Yeah, changing folder colors is really nice to have. /S

I'm actually cautious resistant to auto-filling passwords.

The most useful things I was expecting like the dynamic face+iris unlocking, being able to minimize Netflix didn't happen.

All I'm glad about the update is a new security patch.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2018really? does factory reset resolved issue on battery problem?Factore reset may resolve any kind of issues and/or malfunctions, bags etc... no matter the brand or the model. However it would be better if its done before the update and not after. If you have encountered any problem do first factory reset only for the seetings, if it doesnt work proceed to factory reset. And get rid of the stuff you dont use, any kind, especially third party apps.

With the new update, called Oreo, on my Samsung Note 8, one of the things that changed from the previous OS, is that now I can't assign specific text message tones to certain individuals anymore. Boooooooooooo!!!!!! Now, all text messages have the same ringtone. That sucks! Now, I won't know who is texting me just by the ringtone. Boooooooooo! Samsung, put it back. Now!
