The Note series is aimed for a power user segment who are likely in executive with office suite, creative & artistic with the S Pen, reliable clear documentation with the camera, vividness of the screen for setting with clarity, and specs far superior to do all those smoothly.
The Note8 is a tool, not a set of specs to show off that some here clearly don't even maximize. Who wants to boast about the screen, yet not watch HDR video with the Note? Who wants to boast about how clear the audio is when the same person don't even use streaming music?

Despite the 4000 mAh battery, it can not perform as long as the Note 8's 3300 mAh. Tests have shown. Mate 10 has no wireless charging. Mate 10 has no AMOLED. Mate 10 has no S Pen. Mate 10 has no better OIS. No iris scanner. It has so many compromises. Why post here in Note 8 comments?
Note 8 is a super phone. It has the best screen. Brightest. HDR. S Pen is important.

In my own opinion the note 8 would have been perfect with a larger battery. I hope they do something about that with the note 9.

Normal photo shooting mode works wonders with low light. Duh. Even GSM Arena wrote how wonderful the camera of the Note8 works at night. Don't tell me that your imaginary Mate 10 gets wonderful bokeh at night.

You do know that the article link mentioned just an integration of Microsoft Translator? The very same app can be installed from the Google store. Same thing. I can install it. So, this is a third party inclusion. Nothing more. I can have both but you can't have Samsung's one.
What the Mate 10 can't do is to translate or convert by hovering the S Pen.

Huawei Mate 10 wide aperture mode still works great even in low light conditions.
Anonymous, 31 Oct 2017I have Note 8 experience and nothing special about it.
Nothing new.Like there is something new with the Mate 10?
Note 8 innovations:
Best screen in the world.
S Pen functions - hover view, translate, practically like a mouse, drawing, writing, navigation.
Best camera setup.
Best dual optical stabilizer.
Best speaker - loud and clear.
Better battery longevity compared with 4000 mAh phones.
So please do tell us about what Mate 10 innovation you keep bragging about - fingerprint scanner at the front? 4000 mAh battery that fails to go above the Note 8's 3300 mAh performance? IPS LCD that fails to be better than the Super AMOLED of Note 8? 1980s IR remote control function?
No you have nothing. I suggest you stop commenting here if you have nothing good to say about the Note 8.
Anonymous, 31 Oct 2017Limited language selection in the S pen translator. Useless!38 languages. That is how many languages the S Pen translates. Mate 10 - Zero. Nada. Ziltch. None.
It translates entire paragraphs. It converts currencies instantly. Guess which smart phone can do all of these? I am sure it is not the Mate 10.
What is this reddish screen issue you just made up? No, there is no red tint on my Note 8. Note 8 screen is the world's best at the moment. Accurate colours. No burn-ins. No strange tint. Brightest screen in the world at 1200 nits.
You do not have anything nice or Real to say about the Note 8, I suggest you just stay out of this comments page.
TheNeighbor, 30 Oct 2017You never had a Note8 in the first place.Limited language selection in the S pen translator. Useless!
TheNeighbor, 30 Oct 2017You never had a Note8 in the first place.Oh really? How about the pinkish/reddish screen issue?
I just bought this phone 2 days ago (Malaysian spec cpu exynos), and i could say that its over expensive. But overall seems fine, even playing games like Mobile Legends drains only about 3-5% battery per game due to Vulcan API. I didn't notice heat during gaming, probably because of phone housing made of glass. Need to be extra carefull with that glass though. It has small capacity batteries, but you could tune its display to use HD(1480x720) instead of WQHD(2960x1440) to save batteries and turn off the "Always on display". 1 full charge could last entire workday, but a heavy user need to carry power bank. Charging to 100% is fast. On the camera side, I'm a bit dissapointed even it has one of the best pictures quality, I'm just stuck at 12MP maximum. The stylus performance I can't say much because this is my 1st note series. Thats all I could say, overall satisfied with it.
Anonymous, 30 Oct 2017LOL! Huawei Mate 10 has that effect as well. Don't be so confident.
The wide aperture mode. What are you on about the Mate 10 again?! No one here wants to hear about something you do not have. That's right Mate 10 is not even being sold yet. All he said was how good the camera on the Note 8 is. Not Mate 10! I can say the depth focusing on the Note 8 can sense how much it can determine which is far away is rendered much more blurred and things even a bit closer have little blur.
Get off this comments page if you have no real Note 8 experience to talk about!

I've been practicing with the iris scanner. I no longer have to open my eyes wide but still have to put a 'surprised' look on my face for it to work. I might set it up again to see if I can improve it
