Nonsense No updates released, nor in sight. Don't panic, nothing new, except what you can read in changes, not eminent on screen. Now P wud also be like this, cosmetic changes here & there.

If you want to go bright closer to 100%, expect burn-ins. Organic screens have this flaw.
However, I do love the full resolution and brightest screen when watching video because it's not static pictures.
I've been using AMOLED based screens for 6 years
5 different phones - no burn-ins or ghost images on the screens. So complaining - go get a LCD screen phone.
Plus, get plastic builds - you can't seem to even afford a raised lip heavy case. I'm not a fan of glass backs, but it's silly for you to complain about covering glass backs and expect these 1k phones to survive a drop without a case. Do not buy. Simple.

And what about burn in? I have to stay at low brightness all the time? What a joke! If you can afford 1000 euros every year or every half year then samsung is the best for you! And again where is the point with this all glass design if you have to cover it?

Putting a case is a logical step to having it last longer. My Note 2 lasted this 5 years long, and in use by a family member - it had a case on it.
I'm still waiting on my Rhinoshield crashguard bumper to arrive as the minimal protection when using my Note8. Using it without a case is just asking it. No matter how careful, there's always that other person who will bump it out of your hands. So always put a case or even just a bumper.

Easiest way is to use a 1 amp charger. Been doing that.

Rounded corners and curved edge display killed Note series for me. Unless Samsung make flat display versions with standard square corners this is end of Samsung phones for me.

I turned off fast charging. It gives an option to turn on or off fast charging, which is on by default. Both on my Note 8 and Note FE.

I'll consider getting Note 8, but still worrying about the battery scenario as I see your comment regarding to use orignal charger notification and again thanks for 1AMP charger tip.
Really we can't expect fixed batteries on expensive phones and then this notification forcing us to fast charge, not Sounds Good Samsung.
Thanks again Neighbour!
I updated and there's now a pesky notification telling to use the default charger which is fast charging. There's no option to turn off fast charging. It puts extra stress on the battery.
Now that notification is on your notification pulldown tray. You do have a choice of turning off the notification, but this is shameless. Fast charging shortens the battery's capacity after about a year. It means Samsung is trying to kill your battery in time for next year's model, or have the millions of users stop by to have their batteries replaced.
That's why I only use 1 Amp charging. Save your battery longer.
AmarR, 12 Dec 2017Hey Neighbour,
I would like to know how this giant device is doing for you.
Do you feel... moreMy #1 reason for using getting a device is its set of functionality - of which it has to have an S Pen, excellent camera, memory expansion, OLED screen, good build, and battery life. Pretty much a Galaxy Note since 2011. Looks is secondary, and Note5 was a great compromise since it never had memory expansion and only cane in 32 GB version where I live.
The Galaxy Note lineup have been one of few smartphones which have biggest screens. No denying it. If anyone complains about how this thing is huge, the regular S8 or any smaller factor phones are available. You get the Galaxy Note because of the big screen and S Pen functions. I have average hands, and I still can swipe type one-handed with a Zerolemon battery case.
I don't appreciate the sealed battery, nor the fact I have to charge the Note8 by lunch time and veggie going home so I now I will never run out of battery the whole night. A full battery will definitely provide 6 hours SOT over a 12-hour stretch the way I use it in out of the house 16-18 hours at times, and a separate powerbank or plugging in is so un-21st century. Even a wireless charging pad that charges so slow is not forward thinking.
Having used a Zerolemon 10,000 mAh battery case is not pretty. Just makes it heavier and thick. However, you get a power case for providing 2X more battery without the need to plug in, nor do you have to carry a powerbank with wires to organize - you have one thing to carry which is already on your phone. I only use not even half the ZL battery in keeping my Note8 powered up. You can see it compared to my old Note 3 with a ZL case as well:
Again, I want and need functionality than looks. I've been asked about why my phone is like a brick, but I'll not have the hassle with wires and writing about power. Protection is minimal, with the top lip of the case only coming up a bit. I figure a Whitestone Glass Dome screen protector will do the job. I'm currently attaching a Spigen universal metal kickstand through the rubber layer.
