Samsung you DISSAPOINTED with the new update. The baterry life was almost perfect before the update, now after 2 hours of ONLY stand by time, not either one operation, only disconected from charger and left the phone lock for two hours - 13% of the baterry has gone or there was 87% of the capacity on status bar. Before the update, only 2 %was gone in the same situation. Do not waste your time for new updates,I am not updating anymore - no sense to go from almost perfect to almost shit!

I always use phone memory for installing apps because in case if I upgrade or format the memory card, then it will be a nightmare. I have installed some apps in memory card in my old Nokia N8 (64 GB class 10 with same speed as above) and they also work fine.

I have a note 4 with a 16 gb class 4 card. The card is getting slightly full. since all apps and media are on the card. However the phone is becoming really sluggish. I suspect it has to do with the class 4 SD card. If I put a bigger and faster card in, will my phone performance increase? What is the maximum class speed which the Note 4 can accept? I see the specs at GSM arena it says 128 GB, however I think the note 4 can take more than that right?
Hi! First of all, you should NOT install your apps on your SD Card. Why do you think the phone manufacturers are trying to prevent us to install them on the card? Because the apps will have longer loading times since the card is slower than the internal memory of your phone thus it affect its performances. Try moving all of your apps on the internal memory and keep only the media on your card. Thank you for posting! Have a nice day!
Overall, I Not Telling You To Follow This. But To Let You Get Rough Idea, Why You Should Believe In SD Performance That Can Affect A Phone.

How can you say that performance of the phone depends on the memory card (in case of using branded ones)?.

"Contrary to conventional wisdom, we find evidence that storage is a significant contributor to application performance on mobile devices; our experiments provide insight into the Android storage stack and reveal its correlation with application performance. Surprisingly, we find that even for an interactive application such as web browsing, storage can affect the performance in non-trivial ways; for I/O intensive applications, the effects can get much more pronounced. With the advent of faster networks and I/O interconnects on the one hand, and a more diverse, powerful set of mobile apps on the other, the performance required from storage is going to increase in the future.
"So yes, the performance of your SD card does have an effect on the performance of your phone/device, irrespective of whether or not you think the device is actually accessing content on the card. The take-home message is, if you're going to use an SD card, make it a very fast one.
Just on the subject of Class Ratings for cards, that is pretty much meaningless because the classes have failed to keep up with potential drive performance. For example, a Class 10 drive only has to achieve a whopping... 10MB/s. Pretty much every cheap nasty card in existence can do that. Even the UHS class 3 is a measly 30MB/s. Compare that to cards like the Samsung EVO+ which are hitting close to 90MB/s, or the new Sandisk Extreme Pro MicroSDXC UHS-II which Sandisk claim is capable of 275MB/s.
The Samsung EVO+ is by far the best price/performance card out there right now, so that's what you should be using - they're quite cheap, yet perform very well, so importantly won't have a performance impact on your phone. Whatever you use, make sure it has fast write performance (80MB/s or greater). Do not use cheap, low performance SD cards in your phone - it will kill its performance with everything you do.

Raajko, 31 Aug 2017See any visible change?Smooth performance (only if you force stop the frequently used apps after using and disable all the junk apps). Severe heating on the SIM and memory card slots only during the update screen 'android is upgrading apps xx of xx' has reduced a bit.
Virtually Note 4 has become like a Samsung C9 pro in terms of RAM. That is performance has improved.
The update is 235.92 MB.
