This is why I always wait a month after receiving something new before I go posting reviews.

The Droid OS is amazing; I just wish I had gotten it on a more durable phone like the Razr Maxx I replaced this one with. The Note II is made to be dropped--it's seriously like the thing is oiled before it leaves the factory-- and it will crack very very easily, and stop working shortly thereafter. I know this from experience, and I expect better from a $700 piece of technology (I don't want to hear this crap about I should have paid another 30 dollars for a semi-protective case that should already be on the phone when you buy it, I mean, come on it replaces the battery). As someone who has owned everything from the Nokia 3360 (indestructible) to the Iphone 4, this is the most expensive and least durable phone I have ever seen, by far. The stylus and note-taking features were the initial draw for me, but the program for taking notes is setup very poorly, and you can't take notes on a phone that doesn't work. Now I am just sad I wasted my upgrade on this "phablet"; so much so that I elected to pay 200 for a refurbished Motorola, rather than paying for the Samsung repair. I will be getting a Xyboard for all my note taking, internet surfing needs (which, by the way, is also cheaper than the Note II).

Also, Samsung has very bad customer service, and is known for cheapening out on their products. It takes a class action lawsuit (literally) to get them to address their own design flaws.

[deleted post]Calm down! I never said I was unhappy. I am pointing out areas that need to be improved. There is no point in worshiping a phone. It is not a member of the deity. A progressive manufacturer will always strive to improve shortcomings and a better device. Everyone benefits when this happens. You worshiping the phone is akin to the worship of idols.....and that is a sin!

A lesser gripe of mine is the lack of stereo speakers in such a large phone. Classics like Nokia's N82 implemented stereo speakers half a decade ago! Stereo definitely improves sound quality. Samsung should remember that not everyone wants to listen to audio through headphones.

I bought SGN II after my SGN I was stolen last year. Anyone who has a workable idea of how I can find my stolen phone will be greatly appreciated.
I've had II for only a few days, yet already I am seeing limitations. For instance you cannot delete one saved internet page at a time. You are only allowed to delete all simultaneously.
Secondly, the QWERTY keyboard is impossible to use at a reasonable pace. Snail-paced input is the only chance one has to enter text accurately. I used the QWERTY both in portrait and landscape modes with disappointing results. A Blue tooth keyboard beckons.
It must be said that although on-screen keyboards make for a slimmer device, they are impractical for professional use.

Damitel , 24 Feb 2013Was fortunate to see s3 and note 2 in a show room in a phonestore, 306ppi on s3 was not better... moreActually, I can't hardly tell the resolution so much between the S III and the Note II. They're both brilliant screens and are good for bright environments.

The best experience with the S Pen for writing is with Swiftkey. The new update just integrated the Flow function where you glide your finger or S Pen across the screen to encode words. It's better than the stock Samsung keyboard. They both get the words you want wrong at most 25% of the time. It learns the most common words and phrases you use over time.

If you rapidly want to encode words, I suggest you get a good bluetooth keyboard, preferably something that is full sized or it can be folded in the middle for better carrying and storage. There are smaller ones at the size of the Note II. I plan to get one of those for portability.

I also do suggest you download Polaris 4 from the Samsung App Store. It's a fair enough Microsoft Office replacement and it's free.

A bluetooth mouse can be also be connected with the Note II for productivity.

I've went ahead & updated to the official N7100 firmware 4.1.2 (February - DXDLK5 for Philippines) and ran a root.

Ok, the plan was to experiment on some custom ROMs if power efficiency was a big problem. Seems stable for now as it's running as it did before - somehow. I just lost 10% power in am hour's worth of surfing and uploading via wifi.

I'm tempted to try out some of the lighter ROMs for a change but would lose Touchwiz functions like multi-view and Smart Stay.
