If you're not aware of Rooting, why interested? Rooting will give you access to Super-user priviledges, meaning you can do modifications in the android system, which is restricted to normal users. You can install custom ROMs, CWM Recovery, Use apps that requires root access, etc.
Deletion of apps/data will depend upon the technique you'll be using. It's recommended to wipe all data.
Those running ICS, please confirm whether you're able to record video at Full HD resolution or not.

This is the official firmware for Germany by Samsung. I'm not having any issues with it. Smart-Eye, Multi-Window, Air-View, etc. are some features which are worth upgrading manually.
sam, 05 Mar 2013hw did u upgrade to jb...is it officially released in india..I manually updated to Jelly Bean with Stock Jelly Bean ROM of Germany.
Here's the tutorial I followed: http://droidviews.com/2013/update-samsung-galaxy-note-gt-n7000-to-android-4-1-2-jelly-bean-official-firmware/
My software is already the latest so, I cannot check update on Indian firmware.

My phone's Baseband version is: N7000XXLSO
Battery life is almost the same like it was on ICS. People here are talking that they came back to ICS after experiencing problems with Jelly Bean firmware. So, I guess it is possible to downgrade to ICS, when required. Google it and you'll know how to downgrade. But, of course you'll have to use tools like ODIN.

Are you charging your phone via USB port of your computer? Have you tried using the original Samsung charger (1A current)?
Try a factory reset. If the problem remains, there's something wrong either with the battery or with your phone.

Pushing defective phones in the market was Nokia's new strategy for the Indian market. They knew that Indian law can do nothing for consumers and they kept on exploiting us.

I been facing this camera issue which other users have posted. Camera dont respond... moreI never faced camera issues on my note, neither on ICS nor Jelly Bean. No one is sure when JB update will arrive in India. That's why many are updating manually to Jelly Bean via ODIN with other official ROMs like I did.
And I don't think iPhone 5S or maybe called iPhone 6 will have screen larger than 4.5" So, if one wants a large screen, Note II is the only option in hand.

I am too using the same ROM and my battery life is normal. Did you left Mobile Date / WiFi always ON? Have you tested battery life without installing any additional apps?

I had earlier used an HTC Desire V, which was a crap phone. On the other hand, I don't think you should spend more on a Sony phone. Better wait for Galaxy S4 or Buy Note II.

hi friends i want to know how much time your note 's battery charging time it is taking more 7hrs. Even discharging while i am charging it
Nothing new about the beheaviour of Samsung. They knows India is quite a big market but they also knows all Indians are very Cool. So they are testing our patience nothing else. Once we decided to boycot their product then they will realise. Dont forget this is India once upon a time Nokia was king but when did not attend consumer choice today they are literaaly wiped out. So Samsung instead of selling new product keep strict eye on old customers.
I been facing this camera issue which other users have posted. Camera dont respond and take times to show an error. I am sick and tired of this and now finally planning to sell this. I am sure no jelly bean will come to india cuz if it will samsung user will not upgrade to higher end phones. So dont wait either buy Note 2 or wait for Iphone5s.
after installing jelly bean... i have factory reset my phone 3 times... the lag becomes less... but no improvement in battery life... guys better to wait some more time for a stable release of jelly bean... the german one is laggy n drains battery in 5-6 hours... as of now i think the ics rom is the most stable... ive installed the india rom...
