AnonD-68047, 24 Aug 2012I have been facing problem with my battery its not even lasting for 4 hours at-least whereas,... moreThe Note can last as fast as 4 hours of power if you have been constantly logged on to the internet and/or gaming. Were you doing that?
I have never considered the Note as just a smartphone. It's actually a portable digitizer computer with cellphone functions. With its 2500mAh battery, it's has a longer talk and standby time for cellphone functions. The following are some 3G talk and standby comparisons respectively with other phones:
SG Note - 13.5H, 820H
Sony Experia S - 8.5H, 420H
SG S III - 11.7, 790H
Motorola Droid Rarz Maxx - 21.5H, 380H (strangely)
These are GSM Arena's stats, and HTC's One series had no available info on their battery usage stats.
My point is, the hardware usage other than cellphone functions are what's draining the battery of the Note - it's a pocket computer with a screen resolution higher than a 10" netbook!
I'm guessing the designer(s) of the Note really had thinness in mind than slapping in a 7000mAh battery - which I'd like to have. The Samsung Tab 7.7 with the same screen resolution but only bigger 7.7" HD Super AMOLED screen has the same processor and GPU specs that of the Note but has a bigger battery of 5100mAh. Yeah, I would not mind 7 hours worth of internet browsing or 12 hours worth of video playback in one charge. This is very close to what I get on after consuming 2 batteries worth on my Note with constant usage. I can imagine how a single 5500mAH Mugen battery can last the same on the Note.
If you are like me who use the Note than mere cellphone functions, I suggest you get 2 extra batteries and an official charger. Charge them at home so you don't always need to plug in the Note while out. With a dense screen, powerful dual-core processor and GPU, you can't possibly expect one charge could last a day unless you are scarcely using it. That's where others report getting up to 3 days worth of power (not doing much).

I had this phone for almost 6 months now, dropped it many times and had no problem with it. But my only concern is the battery, which most of note users had problem with. Had to buy portable charger or additional battery for backup since the battery doesn't last long. But overall this phone is awesome! Update it to ICS and this phone will never fail you. Good job Samsung!

A protective cover is the best way to prevent damage. No matter how careful you can be, there is always a possibility that you can drop this baby.
I recently saw a cover that is "military grade" (that's what it said!) that cost around $12.
You can see the front here:

You can see the rear here:

The biggest pro for this is that it's more fully protective than Otterbox' Defender cover (costs $60!) with those cover for the camera, earphone jack and S pen. And the biggest cons are that it's hard to take off and the metal conductive buttons for the back and menu keys don't work all the time.
It's important for me that it can be opened really to change to fresh batteries. This is currently what I do use:

It's a silicon and hard plastic combination with corner bumpers. The slightly front raised silicon edge is good for absorbing the shock of you drop the Note the glass facing a flat surface.
If budget permits, do spend on the Otterbox' Defender or at least its Commuter casing.
