Nateberukmung, 13 Dec 2011Phone expert advice me, when 1st time re-charge your battery, min re-charge must 8 or 9 hour. ... moreStrange advice but sound. The thing is, unlike Ni-cad batteries of before, Li-Polymer can be recharged without totally draining. Batteries have a limited number of recharging cycles, around 500 before not being able to retain a workable charge. In any case, time and usage will slowly make the battery useless.
A better practice could be to have extra batteries (I really think more than one extra) so that you fully drain to reduce the charging cycle usage. Once drained just pop in the fresh battery, and have the drained one being charged using a portable charger powered by a portable power pack, placed inside your bag. This is something Iphone users cannot do with their fixed internal batteries.
I'm still waiting for extra batteries to be regularly sold in retail shops, with the official Samsung charger for the 2500mAh battery. The only accessory that I managed to see meant for the Note is an exterior back translucent jacket to help against the bumps.
Avie, 13 Dec 2011Bro im using Galaxy Note since last few days but i found its battery lasts for only 2 or 3hrs ... morePhone expert advice me, when 1st time re-charge your battery, min re-charge must 8 or 9 hour. The for the 2nd time and afterward 2-3 hour only. Don't let phone re-charge more than 5 hour, it will decrease your battery lifespan. Make sure you battery 98% or 99% empty before re-charge, don't re-charge if your battery is still 2/3 or 1/2 full. That all they said to me.
Avie, 13 Dec 2011Bro im using Galaxy Note since last few days but i found its battery lasts for only 2 or 3hrs ... moreWow, I have not experienced that short of a battery life on mine! You might want to consider not utilizing all those apps so often. They update or retrieve data if you have them on. I have foregone with those apps, especially facebook, twitter and even the samsung app since the updates are charged every time, other than my so-called unlimited data plan. All except google applications which are apparently free.
Do you really need to be connected all the time? Turn off your GPS, bluetooth, wifi (when you don't need), set your vibrate mode to just notifications if possible, lower your screen brightness. I only check my social networks via the Opera web browser, which apparently reduces data downloading. It's just keeping an eye on turning off what you don't need and you could get through the day. I think what is definitely essential are texting and normal phone calls.
Remember that it processes more pixels than any other phones, and so it needs power. If you really do want to operate the way you usually do without worrying about battery conservation, then you would need to plug it in whenever you can via convenience outlet if you stay long in one place, and a portable battery extension add-on or external battery pack.
I once had used the Note for 18 hours - filming, picture-taking, uploading, sketching, but was plugging on a portable 6600mAh battery back from time to time.
Widgets like the provided Application Manager or any similar applications can help you kill off unwanted open apps running. I do it manually since I don't believe that task killers would help but contribute to power consumption.
Yes, portability still has its limits in terms of battery longevity. I still remember coming across one of the earliest Ipod and the shop clerk told me it only had 8 hours of power to run its 5 GB HDD. That was absurd to me at that time. Now they go on for 40 hours in one charge.
Until we have heavy capacity portable power packs that wirelessly charges our gadgets, or utilizes our body heat to generate electricity, or a new Android operation system that greatly reduces power drain from the battery and can last more than 24 hours even with heavy usage, I'm afraid we are still stuck with these methods of prolonging our batteries.

johnny devil, 13 Dec 2011What do you know, mine never had a blue tint so stop being ignorant Mr know it all I know, right?! You can hardly notice any blue at all at that extreme angle. Not worth complaining about. Trust us, we actually have the Galaxy Note.
New User, 12 Dec 2011Don't Buy The Note ..... blue tint when the phone is tilted.... i'll reply My Comment Every Da... moreWhat do you know, mine never had a blue tint so stop being ignorant Mr know it all
Let me be absolutely clear about what I see about that light blue tint "problem" you might see at some 2 to 3 degrees of viewing the super AMOLED screen of the G Note - the color seems a very translucent light bluish tint, that you might not even notice unless someone told you. This is only very noticeable when the screen is white and the light bluish tint been seen probably due to the gorilla glass refracting the white light.
It's like the sky being seen blue (but not that extreme in this case) since the water molecules refract or bend the white light from the Sun. The frequency of white the light is being bent results in blue.
Would you be watching or reading with your phone 2 to 3 degrees and complain that the light bluish tint is enough to get your money back? Until they invent glass that absolutely does not refract or bend light at those extreme angle, I'm statisfied with the Note.
Had it in my hands for a while. I own an SII, this Note was a friend's.. The screen on this one is barely better than the one on SII. Eventually both him & I are convinced about the fact that Note cannot be used as a Normal Hand Phone. He so much likes the size of my SII and after using each other's phone we are to conclude that going for the Note instead of SII is sheer waste. You pay 150$ extra for the big phone, having hardly any difference except the bigger screen. Moreover, my dear friend admitted the fact that having such a big device had its portability issues (that's where he fell in love with mine. :D) and it was a serious blow to his privacy on the go. I mean, seriously people, not many of us like other people peeping onto our screens when we're chatting or typing texts or emails. Hifing stuff like that on a 5.3" Tablet-Phone is a challenge! :D
Even I feel, at times, that the 4.3" screen on my SII draws much public attention, especially if I have a pic or video playing on my phone.
The S-Pen is awesome. It also works on my SII but it's more fun on the bigger Note! It's avery unusual device folks. Samsung has been at its best lately. :)
It has been 5 days recieving my SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE from flipkart for 32500 RS with free filp case!!!!!There's a good reason why I beleive the Galaxy Note is the best phone on the planet as of now.
First impression that people get is it would be way too big to hold in hands. Believe me - it's bigger than SII and any other phone in market BUT not at all bulky! Easily goes in pocket and is easy to use.Its size is perfect and fits easily in my pocket!!!!! ;-)
SPen/SMemo - these are what takes this phone to the top! No stylus is not a backward step at all-- infact Samsung did a pretty amazing job with it and it's super-smooth to draw/write.S-PEN is good!!!!!Really good!!!!!And its very helpful!!!!!
Barometer, Glonass - iPhone 4s doesn't have it yet! These are primarily used in the phone to enhance the phone's GPS locks thereby being more accurate, fast & consuming less battery by quickly acquiring locks. Barometer can also be used for other things (measuring altitude etc.) once apps are developed for it.
1.4GHz Dual Core Processor - Awesomely fast!
Display:My SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE does not have any screen issue!!!!!I think i am LUCKY!!!!!
Gaming:Brothers in Arm 2 HD,Asphalt 6 Adreline HD,Radiant HD ETC and all high end games run perfect and smoothly without hangings and foce closes!!!!!Its a perfect gaming device!!!!!Also now CHAINFIRE 3D SUPPORTS SAMSUNG GALAXY NOTE!!!!!Check on xda!!!!!
Gesture Recogniztion:Really all gestures of GALAXY NOTE are awesome and good!!!!!For more information about gesture type "samsung galaxy note gestures" on google search bar!!!!!
Camera:All 1080p and 720p videos after recording are seen ultra clear!!!!!Also due to 8mp camera everything is good, pictures are really clear like anything,Also zooming (4x and normal) is awesome!!!!!Also 2mp fromt camera is good in light and for video calling. Also LED FLASH is great to take photos in night.Photos taken in night by led flash are just great and bright n crispy n no words to mention its camera beauty "lolz"!!!!!
ANDROID OS UPGRADE:DONT WORRY FRIENDS IF YOU ARE CONFUSED TO BUY THIS PHONE DUE TO YOU ARE NOT SURE WHETHER IT WILL GET 4.0 ICS (ICE-CREAM-SANDWICH) UPGRADE THEN STOP THINKING IN 2012 TILL JAN-MAR SAMSUNG IS GOING TO UPGRADE TO ICS!!!!!AND THIS HAS BEEN ANNONCED OFFICIALY BY SAMSUNG!!!!!GOOGLE SEARCH IT AND SEE!!!!!!
OVERALL RATING:10/10 IN EVERY ASPECT!!!!!Its businees phone,multimedia phone,gaming phone,digital cam,laptop and so on.....
I WILL SUGGEST ANYONE TO BUY THIS!!!!!
100% RECOMMENDED TO BUY!!!!!
CLOSE YOUR EYES AND BUY WITHOUT WORRIES!!!!!
-LOVE SAMSUNG,LOVE ANDROID,LOVE GSM ARENA!!!!! :) :) :) :) :)
Very good phone, reasonable as tablet substitute. The design of the Note has, however, one major flaw: the location of the volume and power keys. It would be better, in my opinion, to position them where they would be a little more difficult to reach but not subject to being accidentally pressed.
STUFF, 12 Dec 2011first of all, its other person who complain about the blue tint, i just agreed with him.
well... moreDo you own one? I do. And I am not complaining about the light blue tint, and I do not see it being relevant at that extreme angle. Perhaps they can perfect that in their next development, thanks to your uncensored comments.
I would, if you have closely been reading my comments, would wish the battery goes on longer for a mere 3.5 hours of internet browsing, and longer than 2.5 hours of sketching. Music playing, video playbacks, and word processing seem to have decent performances. Perhaps this is due to the fact that it processes an 800 by 1280 screen. Battery capacity will always be am issue for all gadgets.
We both have our own opinions. My opinion is based on actual day to day experience, and not by a secondary or tertiary sources. I'm pretty satisfied with this unit, considering I've been doing graphics with computers for a long time and this unit has my approval for its digital painting capabilities. It's the only one that has a mini Wacom pen and it works ok. To have that power at your finger tips lets us leave our desktop or laptops for awhile. Ideas and concepts being captured electronically and communicated instantaneously through time and space to others is pretty awesome. I trust that there will be more better units in the future, but for now, the Galaxy Note has the right stuff.
Don't Buy The Note ..... blue tint when the phone is tilted.... i'll reply My Comment Every Day .... Don't Beleive Anyone Who Said There Is No Blue TINT And It's Normal ...No It's Not.
hi. my note took 5 hrs to get charged from 5% to 100% for the past 2 days. now it just took 3 hrs to get charged completely, is it may be coz the battery was new & the first couple of charges takes longer time??
also i have checked with my friends who own it that if i am charging it from 4-5% to complete 100% it takes longer time however if i am charging it from 10% it charges to 100% in just 2&half hour. i dont understand the reason.
Anonymous, 11 Dec 2011While what you are saying is absolutely true, with all the break thru in screen and processor ... moremy comment may not be conclusisve as I only have a chance to play with it for less than a week and it has to go back to the manufacturer.
There is serious lagging, eg 5 sec, when i took a photo. u tell me if this phone is ok.
Hai guys.., I am nt such an expert wid android mobiles.., so can any1 of u all could help me..? I am planning to take galaxy s2 but ma bro said me u better go for galaxy note..! Wen I serched on this site.., I could find many complaints..! Is this true..?' which mobile is de best s2 or note.......?
don 2 , 12 Dec 2011plz don't buy galaxy note , it has lot of problems. I'm a galaxy note user for 1 week and my phone went back to the manufacturer and god knows when i will get it back from them.
if the phone work properly, it is the best phone ever produced to-date. but, too bad. i appreciated that fact for just a day, after that everything went wrong. the 1st HD AMOLED screen and camera shooting 1080p and the phone auto shut down at the 2nd night without me knowing why.
enough of complaints, you decide whether to buy this phone. I thought I will not have problem for buying the highest end phone, besides burning my wallet. I was wrong. I wrote this without my phone with me and I paid USD700 for this defective phone, where Samsung need to change the LCD screen and upgrade the OS to fix the defects I complained.
