Samsung Android Announcement

Samsung just announced the Galaxy Quantum2, successor to last year's Galaxy A Quantum. Once again this is a Korea-exclusive phone, with a new QRNG security chipset.

The Galaxy Quantum2, which is expected to eventually ship globally as the Galaxy A82 (and sans the QRNG chip), has a 6.7-inch 1440p Super AMOLED with 120Hz refresh rate, a Snapdragon 855+ chipset mated to 6GB of RAM, 128GB of storage and a 4,500mAh battery with 25W charging support (and a 15W charger in the box).

The key feature of the Galaxy Quantum2 is its quantum random number generator (QRNG) chip, which is the smallest in the world at 2.5mm squared. It generates random codes by capturing noise from an LED and a CMOS sensor, for use with banking apps and services. Samsung is partnering with Shinhan Band, Standard Chartered Bank Korea and T World to support the Galaxy Quantum2's QRNG chip.

To complete the picture the Galaxy Quantum2 has a 64MP main camera with OIS, IP67 water resistance and 5G connectivity.

SK Telecom is taking pre-orders for the Galaxy Quantum2 from today until April 19, price for the 6/128GB model is KRW 699,600. The phone will begin shipping on April 23.
