AnonD-784107, 10 Feb 2020Well yes actually you can. And ive done it. When ive ran my phone in WQHD+ i tend to get less ... moreYes you can, but not by the way people expect it to do. Let me explain.
Physically, the Galaxy S10 display has 1440*3040 = 4377600 pixels (a little less than this actually - due to the punch hole and rounded corners). So during normal use, the phone has to light up all these pixels in order to give us a full screen image.
Imagine rendering a white colored QuadHD+ image which had the resolution of 3040*1440. This image's pixels will perfectly line up with the display's physical(hardware) resolution and thus lighting up the entire 4377600 pixels of the display.
Now if we render a white colored FullHD+ image with 1080 x 2280 resolution, it only has 2462400 pixels - in normal words, FullHD+ resolution only has about half the pixels of QuadHD resolution. So if viewed at 100% scale, the image only lights up 2462400 pixels which means, about a hald of the display is turned off. Therefore is this case, the display is using lesser battery than viewing a QuadHD image.
But, the thing is, we are viewing the image in full screen mode. So the FullHD image will be zoomed in to fill the entire display which means, all those pixels in the display will have to lit up. Hence consuming the same amount of battery life.
But then how you can save some battery life by lowering the resolution? To display something on a screen, the signals has to be processed via a Graphics Processing Unit (GPU). So the GPU has to work a little harder when rendering a QHD image compared to FullHD image. During normal use, this difference is pretty negligible. When playing a heavy demanding game or doing some GPU intensive tasks, you can save some juice by lowering the resolution. (Most mobile games run at 720p HD resolution to give users a fluid experience)
But during normal use, you shouldn't give up the beauty and sharpness of the display (which you paid for) to gain a 5-10 of minutes of battery life.
Cupcakes, 19 Jan 2020You can't really extend battery life by tuning down display resolution to 1080p (Full HD). The... moreWell yes actually you can. And ive done it. When ive ran my phone in WQHD+ i tend to get less hours on battery life then in FHD+ mode. Which makes sense as the screen is higher resolution. So uses more battery.

i am not appraising redmi note 7 i am just telling that i have used expensive phones yet i feel more comfortable with mi or another phone with more customization options and more battery backup in less price.
i found other phone durable against Samsung
the point is Samsung is giving luxury phone in expensive prices but i feel the quality and durability should be better
Ldisidro, 08 Jan 2020Any one notice that the camera can’t focus? YES. i made a side by side comparison shot with huawei p30. and the diference was abismal. and then switch to pro mode, i made the same iso, same depth of field and same speed. and the fotos are realy crapy on samsung devices. went to a huawei p30 pro and the diference was even bigger. samsung lacks of good cameras.

I'm not switching to iPhones right now, nor I think I will. I will stick with Samsung. And Yeah I will upgrade to S10 or maybe S10+, Depends on size which will suit Me.
Thank You BTW, Have A Nice Day Mate! :-)
Anonymous, 06 Feb 2020No matter which S10 version you buy, I promise you the battery will drain! Welcome to samsungI have to say the s10 plus battery is good. My mate has the s10 and battery is good for her. There must be a reason your battery drains fast. By the way you havent mention which phone your using!
no name, 06 Feb 2020I'm switching to The iOS anyways, Thank You! *:-D... Now isn't the right time to buy a flagship phone. 2020 flagships are supposed to come out with high refresh rate screens (even the iphones) and probably samsungs will come out with graphene batteries. Unless you're in a real hurry, I suggest you wait just a little longer and decide if you're gonna switch to ios. I'm not saying you shouldn't, but if it's just the battery life, it would probably be worth the wait.
Samsung S20 will be unveiled very soon (Feb 11 I think).
Anonymous, 06 Feb 2020No matter which S10 version you buy, I promise you the battery will drain! Welcome to samsungPerhaps you know of a powerful premium phone that does not use any battery at all or are you still using a Nokia 51.

Galaxy Note 10+ : 107hours
Redmi Note 7 : 108hours
That looks like pretty similar value. Less that 1% increase for the redmi Note 7.
You see AliRaza? You gotta be much smarter when you plan on trolling. You could've easily accomplished your goal if you said you switched to an iPhone 11 Pro Max.

But honestly, can someone switch to a budget device after using 2 of the top of the line flagship phone? Just for a couple more hours of screen on time? Highly unlikely.
Even if that's really the case, a thin and light powerbank would be the first option comes to my mind.

You purchased two of the most expensive phones in the Samsung line up and then did what with them? You then went and bought a third phone, all in the space of less than a year. I think more money than sense.
Cupcakes, 04 Feb 2020Yeah, that's why I switched to SwiftKey keyboard. It has so many themes to choose from. I decided to use SwiftKey cupcakes. Thanks:-D

i am consistent user of Samsung from past many years
but now i realize that Samsung gives futuristic and adorable devices no doubt but somehow the durability and reliability is compromised
i bought a phone in Rs 1,65000 and i cant make it work for me whole day even i put it on saving mode
on the other hand on mi note 7 i can easily pass the whole day with one tome charge
