Samsung Galaxy S22 to have a 50 MP RGBW sensor

Samsung Android Rumors

Samsung has been working on a 200 MP sensor for quite some time and we expect the new ISOCELL to hit a Xiaomi Mi 12 smartphone first. Latest leaks suggest the Korean giant is also planning to bring a 50 MP sensor with RGBW sensor and it will be on a Galaxy S22 smartphone.

Both sensors are going to be introduced in September, if we can trust the leakster Ice Universe, who is usually on point with such information.

So this 50MP is going to a select clients and will be seen on S22 series

Standard RGB chip consists of sensors reading red, green, and blue light and then mixing them into proper colors, but with RGBW there’s now a white LED that assists with pure white light. In theory, it should provide improved highlight rendition in high-contrast scenes.

We already know how it works in practice since the Huawei P8 was one of the first phones to introduce such an array - back in 2015 shots came out crisp and clear. Of course, this was a single 13 MP camera with nowhere near the processing capabilities of any modern flagship, so the new 50 MP RGBW sensor should produce stunning photos with low noise in low-light scenarios.

Yes, that's what I mean. I actually figured out. If you shift the quad Bayer image by one pixel shifted diagonally, you get different rggb views, what vu helps with zoom and pixel accuracy compared to centering on the quad grouping of the color...

whatever the sensors are, they better be very very good, because, currently, Huawei's P50 / Pro and what Xiaomi has is wiping the floor with Samsung.
