Samsung Galaxy S23 FE runs Geekbench confirming Exynos 2200 on board

Samsung Android

Fans of Samsung's Fan Edition phones will have to live with the Korean company's own Exynos chipset when the next one hits the streets. This has been rumored for quite a while now, and today it's pretty much confirmed by a benchmark run.

A prototype of the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE ran Geekbench, with the model number SM-S711B, sporting the Exynos 2200 SoC, and 8GB of RAM. Unsurprisingly, the software it had installed was Android 13.

The Exynos 2200 was used on the Galaxy S22 line from last year in Europe. The S23 models only use Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 this year, but the S23 FE will, according to multiple sources, stick with the Exynos 2200 globally.

The previous FE model was the S21 FE, released back in January 2022 in two versions, one with the Snapdragon 888, the other with the Exynos 2100 - the 2200's predecessor. So in a way, it all makes sense, if you ignore the fact that Samsung skipped the S22 FE completely. The S23 FE has the Exynos 2200, the successor to the Exynos 2100 in some versions of the S21 FE.

Rumor has it Samsung is launching the S23 FE with the Exynos 2200 in order to get rid of excess stock of the SoC. The phone is expected to become available sometime in the third quarter of this year, so from now until the end of September. It might feature an upgrade to the camera system compared to the S21 FE.

As soon as I read exynos in the title, it's no longer a fan edition.
