Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim not releasing until May

Samsung Android Rumors

Samsung scheduled an Unpacked event on January 22, where we expect to see the Galaxy S25 series. The poster showcased four devices (or at least their corners), and we assumed we would see four new phones – Galaxy S25, Galaxy S25+, Galaxy S25 Ultra, and a brand-new Galaxy S25 Slim.

According to a rumor from China, the latter will be delayed for May.

The new phone is expected to be just 6.5 mm thin but will be a big device, sitting somewhere between the Plus and the Ultra in terms of footprint. It will have a 6.6” AMOLED panel with over 1080p resolution and a 120 Hz refresh rate.

The phone being slim means it is likely coming with a new silicon-carbon battery, which is lighter but has a fairly large capacity – probably around 5,000 mAh.

This isn't the first time we hear about Samsung delaying the Slim, and we are still unsure whether the cryptic message is about China; it might not be true at all. We have to wait until next Wednesday when we'll learn more at the event.

It's not just the thickness alone - most BBK phones with capacities beyond 5000mAh Si/C batteries are lightweight, but not remarkably slim by any means.

I believe they might use Li-Po instead, a rather new battery technology for Samsung phones alone.

As someone who relies on a 1440p phone as a daily driver, lesser pixels do less justice to photos, for better or worse. Also, 1080p does look rather pixellated to those with myopia.
