Samsung Galaxy S25 Slim: what to expect

Samsung Android Rumors

It's all but confirmed that Samsung will be releasing not three, but four Galaxy S25 smartphones this year, but the nearing Unpacked event will likely see just the usual trio. The S25 Slim will come at a later point, but that doesn't mean we don't have some spicy rumors to go by. Samsung will add a "Galaxy S25 Slim", which should fit somewhere between the S25+ and the S25 Ultra in terms of price, at least.

Slim design, as the name suggests

Unlike the rest of the Galaxy S25 family members, the S25 Slim hasn't leaked in images. We only know that the handset will feature a slightly different design than the rest. Rumor has it Samsung will use the S25 Slim as a base for next year's S26 series design.

However, we do know that it will be very slim, measuring around 6.5mm in thickness. That's an impressively thin chassis, given that most phones nowadays range between 8-9mm.

Top-tier hardware

We expect nothing short of high-end hardware from the Galaxy S25 Slim. After all, the device is part of Samsung's flagship lineup and is expected to be priced close to the Ultra.

The display is rumored to measure 6.66" in diagonal, just like the S25+, while the chipset will be the latest and greatest from Qualcomm - the Snapdragon 8 Elite.

There's still no consensus around the battery capacity, but tipsters estimate a cell between 4,700 and 5,000 mAh. It may not sound like a lot at first, but keep in mind the slim 6.5-millimeter profile.

"Ultra" cameras on board

Despite its size, the S25 Slim is tipped to have an "Ultra" camera system, meaning it will feature a better part of the S25 Ultra's camera hardware. Luckily, we have some leaked detailed specs of the camera system, so we don't have to guess.

The main 200MP ISOCELL HP5 sensor will likely be borrowed from the Ultra, which is 1/1.56" in size but could also be 1/1.3" like the HP2. Remember, the HP5 is yet to be announced.

The ultrawide and telephoto units will run Samsung's 50MP JN5 1/2.76" sensor. The telephoto camera will have 3.5x optical zoom. The S25 Slim will omit the second telephoto camera, though.

Additionally, the 3.5x telephoto camera is said to use Samsung's All Lenses on Prism (ALoP) design. The advantage of the new tech is that it can be fitted inside a tighter space. Perfect for the S25 Slim.

Price and availability

As mentioned, the pricing is unknown, but we know it will be cheaper than the Ultra and pricier than the Plus. And as far as availability goes, don't hold your breath, as current evidence suggests the S25 Slim won't arrive until Q2 of this year. It will likely be announced after the Samsung Unpacked event and it will be a while before you can buy one.

The very fact that Samsung is able to keep a tight lid over its new flagship device confirms that it's not as close to a release as the other three phones in the lineup. So, for the first time in a while, we can get excited about the upcoming surprises that the Unpacked event will hold on January 22.

Who cares? Seriously, who cares? 'OUR NEW PHONE IS 2mm THINNER NOW!' So what? Making the phone thinner just steals space, leaving less space for better components and a bigger battery, making the performance and user experience worse. Inste...
