UHS class 1 is only for large-size HD videos, not 4K.
(UHS Speed Class1 denotes a 10 MB/s minimum write speed)
For recording 4K videos use UHS class 3
(UHS Speed Class 3 denotes 30 MB/s minimum write speed)
No wonder you got problems with your S4.
You are not that smart enough so don't mislead users.
Anybody with the Galaxy S5 an want to uninstall an stop applications running, instead of searching through the settings to find the Application Manager, you can download Task Manager from Play Store,an add the Application on to the Launcher you are using, its alot Quicker than going through the settings all the Time to do this, hope this helps you out
Tcool, 11 May 2014No, it depends on the speed of the SD card.

The problem is not just copying in sd card, but also before that the processing and capture of 30 8mp photos per second. That's 240 megapixels per second. It sure takes up toll on processor. And then it moves to NAND and then to storage.
If your storage or sd card is slow it will cause further trouble and further heating. That's why Samsung put a cap or limit.
For a slight proof of what I said. Xperia z2 gets heated up even when storing in internal memory. So there are further issues other than the sd card.
In any case, don't use any card less than uhs I class or the ultra class so that even there is no trouble from storage side.
Have a nice day

Can you verify any other info of mine which is not true. I saw it in an Internet video and the free memory there was 9.99 GB. I also heard 9.99 gb elsewhere. So I think the unit I saw was a carrier version which had a carrier bloat.
Thanks for the info.

Tcool, 11 May 2014You have a faulty SD card.
Use SD card which is compatible for Android phone, not just any SD card.Have replied with a link to photo but its awaiting moderation..
In other news done a full reset of phone and its all working now so what happened I don't know..So back using 64gig card and seems ok..So original problem of it took photos but not record 4K video seems resolved, shame its limited to 5 mins but as tech progresses it will get better...
Tcool, 11 May 2014You have a faulty SD card.
Use SD card which is compatible for Android phone, not just any SD card. Both mine are top Sandisk class 10 cards,,the 64GIG is XC-1 Ultra version.
heres what comes up on screen although it does record sometimes, will have to try full reset.

shubham yadav, 11 May 2014You don't have a faulty unit. The limit is set by Samsung to prevent overheating as 4k videos ... moreNo, it depends on the speed of the SD card.
If your SD card is slow, the phone is having a hard time, that is why it heats up. Use ultra high speed SD card for better pictures and videos.

AnonD-8044, 11 May 2014I only have 64GB because 128GB at Amazon says its 130GBP so will wait till it drops,, but like... moreYou don't have a faulty unit. The limit is set by Samsung to prevent overheating as 4k videos take a lot of processing power. Just to give an idea. A 4k at 30 fps is equivalent to taking 30 number of 8 megapixel photos in a second. Plus moving them to nand and then to sd card can be too taxing on processor.
This issue is also on xperia z2 but in a very bad form. Z2 gets insanely hot and the camera app fails to perform due to overheating due to 4k video recording.
Atleast s5 Doesn't heat up that badly.
I have bought Galaxy S5 G900F before few days. I can only say this is really good phone and i really like it. The battery life is really good and the phone works very good overall. Yesterday i tried if its waterproof and boom everything works. I droped liter of beer on it and its fine!
Tcool, 11 May 2014I want to put 128GB but I cannot find it here.
The biggest available is 64GB so I don't have ... moreI only have 64GB because 128GB at Amazon says its 130GBP so will wait till it drops,, but like you 80GB is enough at moment i still have 11gb free for going to events.
Just got back and photos are great even tho overcast but no video it failed again..I formatted my 32GB card in S5 put on 2GB music and set off to take photos/vids but still failed again..I am going to try to post a link as i have taken a screen shot..I had over 20gigs of free space and defo set to save to sd card..Maybe i have faulty unit?
Hey g900f or g900h users. I live in India where the octa core version/exynos/g900h is available. The showroom live demos are snapdragon here but they sell exynos. Hence I can't get a hands-on experience.
I know these facts. The advantages of exynos s5 are:
1. More powerful cpu. The HMP 5422 is around 20% more powerful than snapdragon 801.
2. Faster RAM. Exynos s5 has 933 mhz ram over 800 mhz of snapdragon version.
3. Much better DAC. Exynos s5 has wolfson DAC which will provide a much better sound output over snapdragon s5 which has qualcomm DAC.
4. Full UHS I speed support.: The exynos s5 supports full class 10 ultra sd card speeds upto 70 MB/S which qualcomm doesn't.
5. More internal memory. It has 11.5 GB free whereas snapdragon version has 10 GB free.
6. Better ram management: exynos s5 has around 300 mb more free ram over snapdragon s5.
Advantages of snapdragon version:
1. LTE support. If 4g spreads very fast in India in next 1 to 2 years it may be very useful.
2. Theoritically more battery life. I can't say for sure but the snapdragon 801 should offer better battery life.
3. Better gpu: adreno 330 is around 20% more powerful than mali t628.
4. Better dev support( only for advanced users).
So these are the facts I know. I need to know from an actual user his views on how exynos s5 performs in real life. Does it heat up? And other related questions.
Please help if you own an exynos s5(g900h).
AnonD-8044, 11 May 201416MB was quite big in 2003.
I have 64GB in S5.I want to put 128GB but I cannot find it here.
The biggest available is 64GB so I don't have a choice but to go for it.
Anyhow, 16GB + 64GB = 80GB, more than enough for my files since I am not recording 4K videos.
Tcool, 11 May 2014OMG! 16GB.
What is 16GB compared to 128GB?16MB was quite big in 2003.
I have 64GB in S5.
Tcool, 11 May 2014Yes you can extend the S5 memory up to 128GB for your 4k videos to save!

The S5 is growing on me but its 569GBP and will drop in price a few months later. So i can send this back and wait for price drop. Its a lot of money and contracts are no,no for me, could be dead in 2 years, lifes to short.
I wish Samsung would bring out Note mini with high spec plus s-pen about 4.5-4.7 inches screen.
I can stay with my S2 for now and like Touchwiz it adds things i need. The S5 has no problems just big for me and still nothing new (except this 4K which is superb even tho not benefiting yet the frame rate is smooth which is a must for me).
