AnonD-116639, 03 Mar 2014check ip rating first.
Check this site first:
[deleted post]LOL! You check it for yourself:
"...Only in freshwater up to 1.5 m for 30 minutes."
"...can be kept under 1.50 metres of fresh water for up to 30 minutes in compliance with IP58"
Not "unlimited time(continuous time)" as you claimed!
You are the one who's wrong, not GSMArena.
Now who has scattered informations?
AnonD-237389, 03 Mar 2014No,you should use an independent web site which is only about ip rating, since most webs imitat... more"...Only in freshwater up to 1.5 m for 30 minutes"
That is from the Sony Global web pages for Xperia Z2:
Say all the hell you want to say, water resistance, fire resistance, OIS, 100gb RAM, gold design. We love Sammy, stop hating. Its not compulsory you must say something, if you feel xperia Z2 will give you everything you want, go for it and if it's Htc M8 teh go for it, it's your choice, stop all this useless noise. Nobody need you to comment here. Go for what you want and stop having headache for another person's problem. If S5 is not up to what you want then go for your expensive icrap, xperia or Htc whatever and stop making noise here clowns!
The phone is great but if it had a TV tuner like s4 that would be much better.
and also i expected s5 come with more that 16 m pixel camera.
J, 03 Mar 2014i'm not sure about this, why all people always bad mouth of this phone.
1. If samsung reall... moreno. we want big screen, less spaces up and below the screen. no obsolete "home" button.
this phone is one step back compared to S IV. should NOT relase EVER. its a failure, simple.
TheNeighbor, 03 Mar 2014The last number for the Ingress Protection pertains to moisture which corresponds: 7.Protec... moreSony never said xperia z,is waterproof But said its water resistant,go and check Sony site
AnonD-237389, 03 Mar 2014No,you should use an independent web site which is only about ip rating, since most webs imitat... moreThe last number for the Ingress Protection pertains to moisture which corresponds:
7.Protected against temporary immersion.
8.Protected against prolonged effects of immersion under pressure.
So in other words:
IP 67 Enclosures - IP rated as "dust tight" and protected against immersion.
IP 68 Enclosures - IP rated as "dust tight" and protected against complete, continuous submersion in water.
Except both brands enclosed with a limited time of 30 minutes, and 1.5m under water depth only. Sony even issues an IP55 rating for a lower rated model?
Even Sony shouldn't be telling everyone that it's waterproof. It's really confusing and letting people abuse the IP by dunking their phones in water. Like this particular Xperia Z lost its "waterproof" seal on the side and got bubbles coming out:
J, 03 Mar 2014not really but even so, if i'm going outside or even at home i will encounter with dust at lea... more you live in desert, with sandstorm 24 hours a day, right?
So you only need s5 since all other gadgets will be dead in your house,,lol lol
Anonymous, 03 Mar 2014Soo, what are you think about human body. It is waterproof or water resistant? Neither of them.
AnonD-116639, 03 Mar 2014oh...do you want to bath with dust at home, or you want to encounter with dust in your bed. .l... morenot really but even so, if i'm going outside or even at home i will encounter with dust at least more often than water.. or my country is flood country who flood everyweek or everymonth.. i will take waterproof phone instead..

J, 03 Mar 2014oh plis.. so what Z2 can swim underwater unlimited time.. u want to swim with your phone? lol
... moreoh...do you want to bath with dust at home, or you want to encounter with dust in your bed. .lollllll
who the hell use dust in the home??
while Z2 is also having dust protection of rating 5.
TheNeighbor, 03 Mar 2014Sheesh! "... the Xperia Z2 can be dunked in water for up to 30 minutes at a depth of 1... moreNo,you should use an independent web site which is only about ip rating, since most webs imitate gsmarena, and 90% are based and full of errors,,and Sony said its waterproof too.
This is Xperia Z1 procedures and reports for IP58 certified:
[deleted post]oh plis.. so what Z2 can swim underwater unlimited time.. u want to swim with your phone? lol
but look at s5.. total dust protection, even at home you will encounter with dust. thats what make dust protection more useful rather than water resist because u will encounter with dust ANYWHERE you go.
