The Galaxy S5 is my favorite Samsung phone, the Note 3 and 4 were too big.. the S4 was pretty laggy. It wasn’t that much of an upgrade from the Galaxy S4 and it was more like a Galaxy 4.5, but the water-resistance feature was what people really talked about. Samsung phones have a TON of preloaded bloatware apps, and the S5 only has 16GB of storage but in reality, you get very little space (I think only 9-10GB)... so using the Galaxy S5 today is not very enjoyable as much due to the limited space to install apps.. yes, the micro SD card helps and you can move some apps to the SD card, but even with that, there’s very limited space for apps (not all apps can be moved to the SD card). I use an app called “package disabler pro” which helps remove some of the bloatware apps so it frees up RAM and helps save battery. The Galaxy S5 has an IR blaster so you can change TV channels (or whatever uses IR).. the built in remote app no longer works but there is a 3rd party app which you can use. I love the flat screen of the S5, plus the added bezels.. it looks cool and it’s easy to install a screen protector, nowadays with curved screens and small bezels, it has become difficult. The S5 is the last Samsung phone I will ever get, they have now removed the headphone jack, micro SD card, and no longer gives a charger in the box. This is why I now only use LG phones, they are basically what Samsung used to be.
Matthew, 13 Mar 2021See the price, back before flagship phones were 250 - 300 Euros. now they are 1500 euros. You should blame Apple for higher smartphone prices. Remember, they were the first to price their iPhone X at $1000 which nowadays is the standard. The Galaxy S5 was about $550-$600 USD in the US.

idgaf about the specs. This is by far my favorite phone. It wasn't annoying, it was easy to use, everything about it made sense. Simple and to-the-point, no messing around with unnecessary menus and popups and feature and programs that just slow you down. Now we need bendy screens and touchscreen buttons and mfing BIXBY. I want to go back.

TheWildShadow55, 10 Mar 2021Does anyone know if custom ROMs on the Verizon S5 are possible? One of my friends has a Verzion S5 that they were able to get a custom ROM on, however they say you need one that has a specific NAND chip. Sounds like a pain to find out what chip you have and which one you need for bootloaders to be unlocked and custom ROMs to be usable.
Does anyone know if custom ROMs on the Verizon S5 are possible?

I have this phone for a solid 5 year now. I wanted to share its antutu benchmark after 5 years. (65904) its preety poor in context of 2021 but if you are buying only for calling or some average social media experience then you can do it. I dont necessarily recommend it but i own it right now and its working fine.
Mai Dvices, 22 Feb 2021So, I just bought the Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H (Indonesia) from someone who desperately needed ... moreI've been using the S-View cover since I bought the phone, previous owner had it on the phone too so it's probably 5 years old. It replaces the back plastic cover, still looks great and it's totally durable, the phone is still water resistant (but I wouldn't risk it, it's old) and it has a wireless charging circuit which I haven't tried but should work. Also I have tempered glass on the display, and in case you lose the charger port cover it's $1 free shipping and easy to replace. The phone still works without problems. So, I think there's still some life in yours after a small initial investment. It's a great phone.
So, I just bought the Samsung Galaxy S5 G900H (Indonesia) from someone who desperately needed money. The OS is Original at Android 6.0.1, the battery needs replacement (wrapped in duct tape LOL), the chrome rims are all gone and now bares the greyish plastic underneath. The back cover is all shiny due to grime and sweat from previous owner, the Power button is recessed into the frame but still responsive and the charging port cover is missing.
Just did a Factory Reset and Registered the IMEI to Samsung Website and all is fine. The OS is FINE and DANDY at 6.0.1 and all updates run smoothly. Fingerprint sensor, Menu button all smooth and working well so is the Heart rate sensor.
Any ideas how I should go about salvaging this 25 USD phone? Aside from battery replacement? Am thinking of purchasing the "SAMSUNG S View Cover Galaxy S5 Original" which retails at 5USD but is replacing the entire Casing/Housing recommended?
