My S5 hasn't been rooted so far, maybe when Samsung will end its support.
BTW, i had also that Asus TF700 with its bad internal storage i/o and overheating combo of cute aluminium+tegra 3 :)

I was an addict when it comes to flashing roms back in the days when knox wasn't a priority but at the introduction of knox, my scale of flashing roms reduced drastically if not none. I haven't even rooted my s5 yet though their of roms out their to flash. Feel bad for the guy that paid buck loads to get his gadget repaired.

ProfessionalCONSUMER, 06 Mar 2015The joys of having xda around the corner right :D. Yeah i bought xperia z2 during the period S... moreI'm pretty sure there will be an exploit discovered, but it's disappointing the see how Samsung's stance on bootloader-unlocking has gotten even worse than Apple's. At least with Apple, you can un-jailbreak and Apple never knows it was jailbroken, but with Knox you trip the bit and they can tell the bootloader was unlocked even if you relock it. At least in theory...with my Galaxy S4, I returned it to the stock rom and Knox went back to untripped. It's just dumb that it voids your warranty. What if Dell voided your warranty because you enabled the local administrator account in Windows after buying the PC? Or what if they locked the BIOS and voided your warranty if you wanted to change settings? I sold an ASUS TF700 tablet shortly after buying it. Since I unlocked the bootloader, ASUS voided my warranty. The next owner of the tablet had the digitizer break on them somehow, so they got stuck with a $270 repair bill for the $450 tablet.
One Nexus per year doesn't provide us enough options for a new device. More Cyanogen-backed phones will be nice to see, like the OnePlus Two or whatever.
JohnHolmes, 06 Mar 2015I thought that was pretty normal to have a dead-zone near the bezel. Haters gonna hate.Yes, i never questionned myself about it but then, any bait is good to catch without even thinking

Me too i got disappointed about this device. I was going to sell it this week after S6 announcement but finally i gave up : just to keep an objective mind about phones.
And also because i noticed it's hard to sell it as second hand over here..

Yeah i bought xperia z2 during the period S5 came just to try out other brands but didn't like the feel then went for lg g3 but the screen is just not my taste incorporated with hanging issues I didn't waste time in selling it off but i remember that GSMarena had recently said that sammy had just released a higher version of samsung s5 (lte-a) quite similar to note 4 (more like a mini version of it) though some users felt cheated but I went for it and since then been using it. Now this new S6? Can't wait to lay my hands on it :D
JohnHolmes, 06 Mar 2015Using the browser that is lamer than IE, as bob calls it "safary".lol. True. I didn't even paid attention
So lame that even Apple gave up fixing it for windows :)

it is sooo much classier than 'anonymous'
all the same, I get you are on a crusade.
I could quote a whole slew of different stats and information and a bunch of it would be first hand.
but you wouldn't listen.
So instead of sharing what sounds like factual info,.. and is, for all intents and purposes 'rubbish', .. why not go buy yourself another phone. You know,.. you change them every couple of weeks.
I guess that iPhone 6+ isn't giving the joy you hoped for, and you find it boring, like the iphones before it, that you moved away from. And tried out a whole stack of other phones.
How about you go find the forum for the phone you like and go write something POSITIVE about it.
Oh, you don't have a home forum.
Sorry, didn't realise you are homeless..
here have two cents, and a muffin.
get well soon ;)
(yes the early galaxies had four or five hours screen on time, they also had teeny batteries and poorly optimised OSs by comparison to today)

Laggy tou... moreJust cause it is on you tube it must be true?
I saw an awesome documentary once that stated the moon landing was faked. It was pretty convincing- until the closing credits rolled, with a kazoo being the music, and the date: April Fools Day.
I can get on you tube and say my Note Edge can peel oranges! (must be true, ye see it on ze idiot box)
I won't even argue these points.. half of them have been well/elegantly argued previously; by many actual tech enthusiasts who live and breathe this stuff (myself included)
The screen might have crazy resolution but that doesn't affect battery life (OLED tech and a breakthrough maybe, but many pundits were surprised when this was put to the test, as it went against the known facts at the time)
Qi charging is great for overnight, or quick topups, and IKEA now offer Qi furniture.
My old nokia with wireless charging built it, gave longer battery life if the qi feature was 'blocked off', so I think this will lead to leakage of power, subtle yes,.. but the world doesn't need inefficient chargers and products.. power is in short supply.
I would tackle each point, but I couldn't care to argue.. the people joining this thread as 'anon's who only write crap about products people are interested in have waaaay to much time up their sleeves and very closed ears.
Good luck with that!
Yes, I feed the trolls, but I often do so in an attempt to educate.
Truth is they don't care, and really, why should anyone bother.. it is just good energy after bad/lame.
The S6 will have killer battery life and phenominal power.
If only someone would talk about the microphones or call quality or something practical...
Feature wise it has hit it out of the park. Lollipop runs touchwiz fine, as most of touchwiz is in lollipop, modern touchwiz is cut down, as half of it isn't needed.
(note: might not technically be 'half', but who cares:its quick now!)
The S6 is going to be awesome.
Stop having penis envy,.. let the buyers enjoy their new toys.
and Yes, we all miss the S5s IPrating.
I don't get how people love replacing their phones every year or less. I think that is why some year models sales are 'weak' cause the users of the last model are acutally happy with what they have got, and for a long time Samsung phones offered no 'good looks' that needed to be upgraded.
Now they have a nice looking model, most happy sammy campers are ALL thinking to upgrade.
Good work to Samsung, this tech is ahead of its time, and no doubt the reason why so much of this tech is bought by apple (when samsung is willing to sell it to them - they didn't give OLED, but much of the stuff does get shared)
