I've had my S6 for about a week now, and so far I'm happy enough, but I have no idea where the gushing praise of the device is coming from. The hardware does feel premium, but so did my M8, so does the iPhone 6, so do a dozen other devices. Putting it against the iPhone 6 specifically, I personally like the much more rounded feel of that device than the sharper feeling edges of the S6. That's very likely better for grip in the end, but it loses a lot of its "wow factor" for me based on that alone.
The camera is very much praise worthy, however. I've been blown away by it's performance so far and can finally stop being an apologist in regards to virtually every other Android OEMs complacency here. We've been begging for a high quality camera for years and Samsung finally gave in and knocked it out of the park. Is it better than the iPhone 6 camera? Hard to say, but that's a good thing. How each camera deals with different things has become more a matter of personal preference than something obvious.
Does it look like an iPhone? Yes and no. Looking at it from an angle at a slight distance and you may end up taking a second look just to confirm which it is. Head on, the oblong home button and shiny "Samsung" logo shouldn't confuse anyone. I think any similarities are more reflective the general homology across all devices. We've sort of converged on a general device style that unfortunately leaves little room for real innovation. Sure, there are some basic aesthetic tweaks that can be applied and evolved, but we're far away from anything truly revolutionary.
TouchWiz is interesting, but it's still just TouchWiz. It's the same ugly notification shade, it's the same collection of apps that for the most part don't really improve on it's stock AOSP or Play Store counterparts, and it's the same attempt at software differentiation as a brand strategy that I just can't imagine is working. I mean, I don't think people are buying Samsung phones for TouchWiz, but what do I know? That said, I don't exactly feel compelled to flash anything just yet (even if there were roms around). The device finally doesn't feel like its working against itself with regards to performance. Apps open when I want them to, the camera really does launch in under a second, and the stuttering that does happen feels more like it's a problem with the app than the phone.
The battery life is still up in the air for me.
Got mine yesterday.
It was between the S6 and the Nexux 5X(same price). Having got the 5X a few weeks ago i sent it back because the screen looked awful and the speaker/headphone volumes were pretty bad.
The screen on the S6 is amazing. Coming from the OP1 which was pretty good itself, this is another level. Speaker is good. Headphone volume good. It is a bit laggy here and there but once i decide if I'm definitely keeping it I'll stick on a bloatfree rom.
I prefer stock Android on the 5X and i like the placement and speed of the 5X fingerprint sensor better. I'd say i have an 80% first time success rate with the S6 sensor.
Only major issue is i have the Isocell camera sensor. But I'll only be taking photos for Facebook so it probably won't make a difference for me. If there was a huge drop off in quality between the 2 sensors more would have been made of it.
So at the moment I'm on the side of keeping it at least until the next round of Nexus phones.
I'm about to buy an S6 next week.Which colour is prettier? Topaz looks nice

Anyhow enjoy your phone!

A phone (Galaxy A9) with an Antutu of benchmark of 73,592 will struggle... but an S6 with an Antutu benchmark of 67,520 will not... :) Don't worry, the benchmark scores are all wrong and mixed up, you will say and that using a custom ROM will improve the S6's performance somehow... if only the typical owner of the S6 knows his way around rooting and custom ROM's (99.999% of S6 owners perhaps?)... No need to explain further. I already know your answer.

You were never an S6 owner! I thought you owned an S6 and changed it for a phone more suited to your preference, hence your presence here.
Sorry, but S6 is a flagship while the A9 isn't!
That snapdragon 652 gonna struggle with Touchwiz while the S6 won't with its beast exynos! And my S6 battery life is enough for me for some RR3 and The Room gaming sessions! True gaming belongs to pc and console world! Smartphone gaming is for quick 0.5 to 1 hour sessions which is more than enough for any phone!
Arogsm, 19 Jan 2016OK... please help me... My uncle's S6 lags a lot and battery life is bad... What can I do?That is just hate speech my friend. I am pretty sure but as a solution you can clear some space and remove unwanted apps use a dark theme or the default. Could you tell me the model number and the country of the device please

But then the truth hurts... and the truth is that the S6 may have killer specs but it has MEDIOCRE to BAD battery life. I understand you do not want to ADMIT that your gaming and online experience is 'suffering' because of the small, limited capacity 2550mAh battery Samsung has put on the S6. You are using every trick on the book (4G/LTE data OFF most of the time; custom rom, low brightness, etc.) just so you can eke out more battery life. You disagree and say you are not feeling 'limited' by the S6's battery life in any way and that you TRULY enjoy 15% screen brightness when playing games. I have no problem with that... to each is own.
The reason why I originally made the post below is to help others (apparently, not all) in their purchasing decisions especially since the smartphone is increasingly being used to watch online videos, listen to music, play games, breaking news and social media updates, etc. (in addition to calls and text) which means a big 1080p screen, a powerful 4000 mAh battery, a very good processor/GPU combo (SD 652, Adreno 510), and all the SD card space (128GB) when you need it, at HALF the price of flagship phones spells the difference between wall hugging, squinting, and buyer's remorse, to truly living and enjoying all that a smartphone has to offer in the smartphone era.
---------- Original Post --------
The Samsung Galaxy A9 is a vastly better device than this one.
1. Display - 1440x2560 (2.5k) is overkill unless you are into the dizzying VR hobby. 1080p is enough for this display. And no, you won't see better resolution with this display compared to a 1080p display. It only wastes battery and lowers device performance.
2. 4000mAh should be the minimum battery standard nowadays. What's the point of a gorgeous display that is dead by lunch time if you use it fairly frequently to watch videos
or play games or stream music?
3. Dual sim should be the standard nowadays. One SIM for cheaper data package and another SIM for cheaper phone calls and text package --- or one sim for home and another for work or for local and international travel to save on roaming data. There are plenty other uses for two SIMs and the latest Android versions support them, so why limit one's flexibility?
4. Why no SD card support? SD card support is very useful for people who love to have the entire music collection, HD movie collection and photo collection in their PC's, available anytime, anywhere in their phones even without data connection. They can mirror or screencast (wifi-direct) the movies and photos to any TV anywhere they go, no internet connection needed! Besides, smartphones nowadays offer ever increasing camera resolutions (16 MP+) and ever increasing video resolutions (4K) which will devour a standard 32 GB internal storage in no time.
Arogsm, 19 Jan 2016OK... please help me... My uncle's S6 lags a lot and battery life is bad... What can I do?Put a dark theme instead of a light one first. I suggest Black Marble. Download/Buy Package Disabler Pro and disable the bloatware. Put apps to always optimize in battery settings.
He should get at least 30 minutes more sot.
