Julliard, 17 Jul 2016Bla bla bla...I know the concept but i don't want to waste time explaining lenghtyly like you ... morenot buying it. those of us who *actually* understand about such issues do not make those kind of mistakes or take that kind of a "shortcut", since it's not a shortcut at all, it's a logical fallacy. memory and storage are not comparable in that fashion, it's like trying to explain how to build a bottle of water by describing the workings of a water pipe.
Anonymous, 17 Jul 2016If you have the money do yourself a favour and buy it. The device is gorgeous. I own this beau... moreThere's obviously still one being born every day.
With yearly and 2-yearly upgrades, there's no reason anybody should ever be without the latest phone, money's not an issue even should i have it.
here's the contract for the upgrade:
those problems are an engineering challenge with the edge model, not an individually flawed phone or user issue, i've brought it back to the store, and they were no better at getting it to recognize presses in that area than i was. the edge screen itself, no problem, but over the bend? 1 or 2 out of 10. the 1/2 to 1/3 battery life on the other hand, is due to having to drive that huge 2560x1440 vs my old FHD galaxy S5.
so, if you claim not to have those issues, of the two of us it's you who clearly does not own the phone.

Its not free with the phone.

abhilashin, 15 Jul 2016Hi All, Does the dual sim S7 edge supports 4G/LTE in both slots simultaneously? Abhi.If one of the sim cards is using 4GLTE network, the other automatically turns to 2G network.
Julliard, 16 Jul 2016Do you even understand how ram actually works. Of course it wouldn't actually shows you 4gb ra... moreWell, i don't know about him, but it appears to be you who does not "understand how memory works". and you don't appear to know that comparing "memory" and "mass storage" cannot be done as they are measured differently, one requires a filesystem overlay while the other does not, etc. apples and oranges.
1) just off the bat, you mention mass storage devices and a different size reported: there's a reason for that which you do not appear to understand. normally, before use, a mass storage device needs to have a filesystem overlaid onto it (but see the exceptions at the end). the filesystem will take some of the device's space to store control structures and metadata aside from user data. this usage of its control structures and metadata is the reason why, once formatted a mass storage devices shows less space than advertised. of course you mentioned that but had no idea of why; had you paid attention, you'd have also realized that formatting a mass storage device with different filesystems yields different amounts of free space, specifically because different filesystems need different control structures and metadata. MEMORY on the other hand, requires no formatting and no filesystem overlay to be accessed.
exceptions: note that technically, you could write a program that stores data directly onto the hard disk without a filesystem overlayed onto it. if you did that, your program would have access to the full theoretical size of the disk (eg: you could actually write exactly 1 terabyte onto a 1 terabyte disk). This is something the oracle database for unix systems did in the 80s, it also worked much faster than any other specifically because it used an entire partition, without a filesystem on it.
2) the capacity of mass storage devices is expressed in (kilobytes and...) megabytes and gigabytes instead of (kiBIbytes and...) meBIbites and giBIbytes [the BI stands for BInary]. the "mega" prefix is the international system of units defined 10**6 (10 to the power of 6) while memory space is calculated differently, 1 meBIbyte is 2**20 (2 to the power of 20) or 1048576 bytes (1024 kibibytes).
you don't appear to ever have even heard of this or you would not have made that useless comparison between memory and storage.
mind you, there is no TECHNICAL reason for memory using kilobytes etc... vs storage using kibibytes, etc... the differences are NOT due to the different technologies used, it's just a numbers game hard disk drive manufacturers use to give you less space then you should technically have, and the kiBIbyte, meBIbyte, giBIbyte etc. terms are rather more recent terms than the rest (they were coined at the end of the 1990s) and only used to distinguish the size of the two.

Of course it wouldn't actually shows you 4gb ram. Example, look at 16gb flash drive, does it says exactly 16gb when you plug it in computer. Or even 1TB of hard disk, does it show you 1000gb storage? No, because that is not how we calculate thing to be specific. We round it off to make customer understand easily. Would you buy a phone with a specs advertising it as 15.23gb internal storage and 3.48gb ram? Its too confusing. And yes, all smartphone out there is the same if you check it using the CPU Z app.
abhilashin, 15 Jul 2016Hi All, Does the dual sim S7 edge supports 4G/LTE in both slots simultaneously? Abhi.Nope... when one slot is in 4G/LTE... u have to change other slot to 2G only.
Do yourself a favor and don't buy this phone.
The curvature of the screen creates a massive problems for UI controls that land immediately before, over or immediately after the corner bend, a place where 9 times out of 10, the phone won't recognize your finger press. as a result, using the keyboard is a PITA of biblical proportions, especially for the following: "1", "0", "p".
the other problem is performance. whether the following is due to the cpu overheating and therefore being throttled or other issues is unknown:
very, very often the phone appears to not register a finger press, so you repeat it, and again, and again, and again, and again .... ad nauseam ... until finally, all of a sudden all your presses get processed all at once and there is an unstoppable frenzy of activity, all wrong, of course, because it will assume presses in places where you did not mean to press.
i used to have a galaxy s5, and i highly regret picking this phone. the s5 had none of these issues, so the cumulative result is my 2 years old s5 is considerably faster AND easier to use than the brand-new s7 edge.
A 3rd issue: as all S5 users know, with samsung's ultra power savings my s5 lasted 12 days between charges. i picked the s7 edge not because of the extra screen functions that i do NOT use, but because the battery is larger than the one on the s7 (3500 vs 3000).
however, with ultra power saving, the s7 edge lasts only between 4 and 6 days at most depending on how heavily i use it, so between 1/3 to 1/2 of my old S5.
all those gushing reviews don't tell you about this shit, all they show you is how beautiful the screen is or how it's waterproof. that is one of the reasons i buy galaxy devices, yes, but just one, and seriously, how often do you put your phone under a tap? i'd rather have the old performance and the screen regularly registering clicks.
