I have read different opinions, but updating to android 8 is ok. The battery is very strong. The update was received in mid-March and is fluid. I wanted to restore it to factory values (I read about it), but it's not necessary.
Amoled display in this phone has very problems. Always display burning screen. A lot of users has problem with burning screens. After replace display always problem
[deleted post]"only for software failure to render my GLASS PHONE useless after only 3 months!!"
Why have you typed the words 'glass phone' in CAPITAL letters? As I understand it, the problem was related to software?

UserS8, 19 Mar 2018Guys, can anyone tell me what is differences between factory unlocked version and normal versi... moreUnlocked will mean that you can put any SIM in the phone rather than being restricted to a Carrier/Service provider.

Personally I just wipe cache partition initially and if I any problems after that, which i havent, then I would consider a Factory reset, but that's just me.

Second, my computer is just really old and really crappy.
Third, I know MANY people who had issues with battery, devices rebooting on their own, glitches and apps crashing after upgrade to new OS, and forums are full of that aswell. The A5 2017 that my sis is using also got wonky after Nougat upgrade, and factory reset fixed that.
Not to confuse anyone, I’m not saying that you need to factory reset device every time you get security patch or something, but in case of MAJOR upgrade, like the whole new OS - you definitley should. It’s not a must, but it’s better safe than sorry.
S8 User, 17 Mar 2018So it's been a week since I finally bothered myself to do an upgrade to Oreo. It was a painfu... moreLOL. You do NOT need to make a factory reset of the phone each time you get an upgrade ! It is a myth...you think Samsung would let people upgrade their phone if it was messing it up ? But if it makes you happy...I suppose you reinstall Windows on your PC every week when you get an update...ah ah ah.

When you now download an app from anywhere other than the play store you should now see a pop up and you will then have to grant the app permission. Not tried myself but this is how I understand it to work now.
Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong. Ta

Ya I'm leaning towards the pixel because of those reasons. But damn the s8 design is pretty amazing! I wish the pixel had expandable storage and a headphone jack though.. but not a deal breaker.
Nivk, 17 Mar 2018Anybody getting monthly security patch for s8. I usually get them the month after so for march i'll get it in aprill, i'm already on february with oreo. Until i updated to oreo i was on november so nothing strange here and i guess in a couple of months they will switch to quarterly updates if they haven't already and that's why no one is receiving them.
Anybody getting monthly security patch for s8.
sNightwing17, 16 Mar 2018I will purchase this phone in a few days :)Had the S8 Plus since launch and its been a sheer joy to use, never caused me a problem, not one little bit, delighted, absolutely delighted.
I've batterered this thing in the old Screen On Time department each and every day. The poor thing's been charged way more times than I've had it days, i'd say a rough top of my head guess would say thats well, well over 450 times I've stuck the phone on fast charge, battery still holding up well with no noticeable decline in performance when using day to day. Well chuffed :D
Oreo update been really smooth. Phone feels good, responsive and fairly snappy to me. No factory reset needed. stuff that! just hit 'Clear Cache Partician' n been fine. .... just as good as ever.
I would be happy to own the phone for another couple of years, wouldn't be a problem, will still.be good then. I probably won't though but I will be really picky now about my next phone. Wont dive right in, The bar has been raised. The phone sets a high standard ... and at the price you can pick the S8's up for now!! ...... I say great choice.
Hope you enjoy the phone every bit as much as I have :)
* I very rarely let phones charge to fall below 30% and very, very rarely leave charger plugged in beyond 100%, more often than not I stop charging at 97%-99%. I also tend to do little top up charges too, say 30% here and there sometimes.
