An update on GS8 & GS8+.
I got to see and hold the S8 & S8+ on 14th April, OMG, they are gorgeous. I got a chance to use them for a while (as much as I could in the display units) and I would say they are better in person. It seems that Samsung has worked on the palm rejection and now it didn't bother me as much as on SG7e. I got a chance to hold the LGG6 as well. That's another good device, I'll have to say. But looks wise, SGS8 is the best looking device at present, in my opinion. I have rather small hands and I could hold the S8 without any problem. Even better, it felt very good in my hand and I could reach the awkward placed Fingerprint scanner with ease. But it wasn't the case with SGS8+. It felt large and I was unable to reach the back without some palm acrobats.
Now, there will be no Bixby, at least, not in the beginning. The plan Samsung have with it is large. So, it will be huge when it comes in full, but till then I'd rather use Google Assistant. The UI seemed lighter this time around, so there's a slim chance that the device will not slow down in a year. But, who knows, right?
The price of the pre-ordered units are around 950 USD here in Bangladesh. I know, I know, they are very expensive. But they will provide 160 USD worth of Samsung DEx (fast charging) with it, so it will become 790 USD. And the shop that I pre-ordered with, Gadget&Gear, they will provide a 128GB Micro-SD card, worth 85 USD, which will reduce the price to almost 705 USD, which, in my sense, is a pretty good deal.
I wanted an Orchid Grey version of the S8 with Exynos chipset, as many of you might know by now, but unfortunately we will be getting the obvious Midnight Black, Coral Blue (for SGS8+ only) and Maple Gold here in Bangladesh. So I settled for the common Midnight Black instead. Samsung promised to ship the devices on 8th May, 2017, all fingers crossed.
As far about the battery, some YouTubers recently showed that the battery of SGS8+ is marginally better than that of SGS8. So I think we're good here. As long as it supports me around 18 hours (from 6am to 12am), I think I'll love it.
What's your thoughts about it? Please share. Ciao...
Lumid, 16 Apr 2017The last time i checked, this site wasnt created in ur name so its either u respect others peo... moreFrom what I see your comment contradict itself. You telling people to respect others opinion and reply politely or have good manner and simply ignore. The moment you said 'shut the hell up' you already disrespect others and replying rudely instead of politely. If you have good manner you could just simply ignore it in the first place. Arent Im right? Last time I check this site wasnt created in your name either. You have no right to tell people what to do.
Anonymous, 14 Apr 2017The worst solution from you we have ever seen! He wanted just FM Radio! Shame on you Man!Yeah, you're right. Sorry, my man. I've been heard enough that day from the iFans and generalized everyone, which I shouldn't have done. Taking my words back, if that would make any difference now. Anyway, take care everyone. Ciao...
GSMArena promised a review of this phone around a week back (on 9th April, 2017, if I'm not wrong). I've been waiting for that review since. But unfortunately it didn't come out yet. Still, I've pre-ordered my S8 yesterday. Now eagerly waiting for the review here in GSMArena. Please, let us have the review ASAP. Take care. CiaoÂ…
hi guys would love to know more about this phone how much does this cost? :)
I just saw it ! It is unfortunately a modified S7 EDGE ! I don't expect that much success for it , look for the silly stamp options you put , while in MATE 9 you can choose better ones , like time stamp or location or weather stamps , which were that even in MATE 8 ! Nothing impressing in Galaxy S 8
Looks like the S8+ is the one more people are getting over this S8. Check Android Central forums especially dealing with the annoying aspect ratio where we will see alot of pillar boxing.
The S8 might be too "narrow" for users. It has the same width as a 4.7" iPhone 7. This is a problem if many people are already used to typing on a keyboard as wide as the S7e. Most people do type in portrait mode. S8+ also does have a bigger battery.
S8+ > S8
Such a big ugly phone, mono speakers, same crap camera from s7, no hdr10/uhd, lagwiz, 3000mah for a 5.8" incher wtf!!! considering how terrible the battery backup of the s7 this is gonna be ugly.
No overall interesting changes other than"Gimmick" and they overpriced this crap to 800-900 bucks? And using mass advertising paying sites to diss their competitors. lmao!
The last time i checked, this site wasnt created in ur name so its either u respect others people's opinion by replying politely or keep your bad manner by ignoring. If u lack understanding, what hes trying to say is that he prefers the smaller size of samsung s7. If you are not okay with his opinion then shut the hell up.
Only thing which divert my mind to not buy this phone is
Hybrid sim slot n battery
Just tried S8 in the shop. Screen and cameras are amazing, best i have ever seen. Speaker is loud too, which is important to me.
But the phone is too tall, same as S7 edge. S7 was perfect size...Would have prefered less tall and wider. Maybe they will launch an S8 mini ? Anyway will soon replace my S6 edge with S8, if only to get a memory card storage.
sammy, 16 Apr 2017does 3000mah battery will be better then 3600mah of s7 edge???Maybe not. It is based on what kind of processor it is using. Better processors use more power in computing, so maybe battery life will be worse than S7 Edge
Anonymous, 30 Mar 2017Wtf?! Still the same camera as S7?! No 1000fps video recording?! Tf?! Sony Xperia XZ Premium c... moreXperia XZ Premium could have a chance to be the best phone in 2017 regarding that power and display
For me mid-long term updates (24 months like Google phones), quick updates (at max, 1 month after the release date) and vanilla experience (like Nexus and Android Ones, maybe..some Motorolas..but not much) are 1st priority.
Google camera post processing are 2nd priority (but Samsung and Apple have excellent quality as well so this is secondary).
Now, what I really do like from this phone...is the "width": 68.1mm, while that is not as great as the original Moto X (65mm), it's better than the Galaxy Nexus (another amazing comfortable phone) and also similar to the iPhones. Google and the others should learn how to come back to this types of phones that are not so wide and are very comfortable to use with one hand. (this one is still very tall...so let's see how well it does in the future... A GPE version of this phone would be a must, it's a shame there are no more GPE phones).
Secondary: what I like from this phone is the Samsung quality.
PS: Finally samsung got rid of hardware front buttons, it tooks years, but now they're more aligned with Android behaviour.
I got my phone day before yesterday and i went on a flight 10 hours laterand I have to say in this short time I was impressed with 2 things...the AKG earphone a real piece of work...it doesn't have noise cancelling function and I don't see it need it. Sound very good beyond my expectations. Second thing I liked is the battery life
Anonymous, 14 Apr 2017I saw S7 edge and i hated because it is huge . The same will be the s8 :((( . People allways f... more// : Size
S6 Edge: 5.1 inches (~71.7% screen-to-body ratio) 142.1 x 70.1 x 7 mm
S7 Edge: 5.5 inches (~76.1% screen-to-body ratio) 150.9 x 72.6 x 7.7 mm
