Just picked my S8 up Thursday night and working through getting used to it. So far am loving:
Slim but nicely weighted phone, sure feels serious, and Samsung have still kept a 3.5mm earphone jack as part of the package - earphones aren't bad too once in ;
Battery life with standby took me a good 14 hours to get to 30% and that was with browsing, a couple hours standby while working, and some youtube and spotify on my trip home (took longer than usual);
Comes with a mini usb dongle that fits the older usb-b cable in one end, saving me replacing a cable, ill throw some points in for the dongle for a normal usb cable to get all the stuff from my other phone (haven't done smart swap yet but will soon).
The screen. Oh that lovely screen, such beautiful resolution.
Cameras - although the screen resolution helps bring out the high def photo.
And heres what Im not happy with
The lock screen timeout is ridiculously short at about 3-4 seconds. Hesitate a moment before putting your pin in and wham, screen goes black again. Come on Samsung, give me ten seconds, im sure that won't drive the battery flatter any quicker! Or better yet give me the power to set what I want this timeout to be rather than shoehorning me in (i like otions.
Always On is like a ridiculous lock screen on the actual lock screen. Once I found what it was and turned it off, I was much happier.
Samsungs Android controls are reversed to my old android ZTE Blade V - minor issue I'm re-training myself.
Bixby button in the most annoying of places just about opposite the power button and right below the volume buttons. Samsung, in a world where Apple and Android "have an (inbuilt) app for that", why did you put yours on an annoying button - or even bother?
Doesnt come with a case or free screen protector slip - seriously Samsung, what you charge for this phone, you could at least provide a screen protector!
The selection of ringtones - No. Just... No. Okay one makes a nice pleasant alarm but the options are just a let down...
Have also had some random processing snags I expect of my $500 el cheapo laptop with a terrible processor, but might be system getting used to me?
And lastly heres what I wont be using:
Any biometrics at all - seriously its a phone, not the CIA, but yeah the location of the fingerprint scanner isn't none too bright
All in all, its just a matter of me getting a case and a screen protector for my new shiny and I'll be satisfied. And I might even actually make a phone call from it (im too much of a texter and surfer to be honest).
In the name of the greatest Hope of hopes to be released !! Dearest Samsung.What do you call this !!!? suomynona, 16 Jun 2017More RAM doesn't mean more efficiency. Unused RAM consumes unnecessary battery power and lead ... moreAn Android with 2GB of RAM is like an iPhone with only 512MB of RAM. You can't compare Android and iOS based on their hardware specs. Android and iOS are different operating systems. They don't work the same way, and they have different hardware requirements. For an Android device to work as well as an iPhone with 2GB of RAM, it would need to have about 4GB of RAM or even more. Android uses more resources, thus it needs more RAM. iPhone on the other hand uses less resources, thus it needs less RAM compared to Android. My Samsung Galaxy S5 has 2GB of RAM, and it cannot hold as many apps open in RAM as an iPhone with 2GB of RAM would, even on near-to-stock Android. With 4GB of RAM, I think my S5 would be able to hold a lot more apps open, nearly as much as an iPhone. That's just how it works. Even if Android tried to better its RAM management, I don't think it'd be enough because it's just more resource heavy than iOS.

Unused RAM consumes unnecessary battery power and lead to quick battery drain. One big proof is iPhone. Even with only 2GB RAM it is faster than any Android phones. It's call RAM management. When will people actually learn something before saying something like this? Hope you learn.
