Joselius, 03 Apr 2017Enjoy your poor ips display. I dont even care. Poor IPS display that covers 138% sRGB. I highly doubt the S8 even covers 120% lol
DCI-P3 > Adobe RGB any day
IRSUN, 03 Apr 2017Why S8 downgrade the battery life to merely 3.000 mAh? Don't tell me the reason is because the... moreyeah but consumer can have external power bank and want a slimier phone so with new chipset you will not need to charge your battery even if you are power user for 1 day and thats enough for most users
IRSUN, 03 Apr 2017Why S8 downgrade the battery life to merely 3.000 mAh? Don't tell me the reason is because the... moreIt could be part of their new 8 steps battery safety check. This is purely my opinion. Dont get triggered or anything. They could had put bigger one like in the Note7. Note7 had 3500mah battery in a body just 5mm taller than S8 and it exploded. It was designed aggresively by Samsung.
I noticed they put 4000mah battery on Galaxy A9 2016 and C9 Pro. Both are over 161mm tall. S8 is only 148mm tall. So, you can pretty much imagine the battery limit size relative to its body size - for Samsung at least. Oneplus 3 which is slightly bigger than S8 also sport a 3000mah battery too. Though, I find it odd how Oneplus update the Oneplus 3T with 3400mah battery without increasing the weight of the phone. LG G6 relatively the same size as S8 have 3300mah battery. 2800mah in LG G5 saved by its removability. We can continue to argue battery size with the XZ Premium which is bigger than Oneplus 3T but with mere 3230mah battery. To be honest, major brand rarely or never had any flagship with over 4000mah battery.
So, in the end there is no right answer with battery size. Whatever the reason, however they did it, it simply their decision. We all can say they could had done better but seriously, what do we know about manufacturing good battery. Its not like you or me could make a better smartphone with gigantic battery to satisfied everyone.
It looks like the camera is identical to the Samsung S7. Also does not support 4k60fps and stabilize video at 60fps above FULLHD ... pity.
Why S8 downgrade the battery life to merely 3.000 mAh? Don't tell me the reason is because the chip is more efficient. Consumers will always love to have a bigger battery and boost the usage time evenmore
S series mistake still the same. Display will colour change cpu suddenly overheat. Battery after use sometime will drop very fast. I am already going to give up
Still lots of questions:
Will the Galileo gnss work in Europe with the new exynos?
Does the new display have the improved RGB format that was rumored to get?
The HDR is just HDR 10, like the G6, or HDR 1000?
Will the S8 catch the make or break 75h battery performance landmark?
Is the MHL support locked again, or not? Since it has dex integration.
One question though.. why did they not integrate 3D touch to whole of the display?
AnonD-658019, 03 Apr 2017they completely change the design, S8 doesn't look from S series ;) like apple iPhone have sim... moreCongrats bro... I think you must be the first guy that is pissed cuz the new phone doesn't look like the old one.
Usually people complain that they all look the same but you are complaining that it looks different from previous galaxy !!
As for the battery, have you used s7 and s7edge? Cuz with the new chipset the battery will still be the same regardless of the screen size. s8 will be same as s7 and s8+ will be same same as s7e. The new chipset is 10nm i.e. more power efficient. And if you get exynos version it is even more effiecient than sd835
AnonD-177795, 03 Apr 2017Have you even tested both side by side? Stop trolling brothey completely change the design, S8 doesn't look from S series ;) like apple iPhone have similar look every year they changing a bit the things which are not visible that much antenna line at the back or something... camera is on same place, home button this year is not the same as 6s and every iPhone model but it is on SAME place which is one of the simple things what they must follow for their series models. Sony as well, Sony devices are not the premium design phones but they are following each other. Samsung put battery of 3000mAh on display of 5.8", galaxy S series for me finished last year...
ProJames, 03 Apr 2017"Information for Canada". This implies CAD, not USD pricing.I don't know if you know this but CAD is weaker than USD dude. Also the plus is 1115 CAD (USD 837 approx) which is roughly the same as i7+ in Canada.
To everybody complaining about the pricing.
Samsung has other mid range phones and it is still manufacturing the S7 siblings.
Also, there are chinese options too. Samsung is not stopping you from buying them.
If you can afford buy S8 else stop crying like little girls.
Appreciate the hard work guys !!
Also the camera is still the best out there. Dual cameras show no visible benefit besides maybe the bokeh effect and zoom. Unless Samsung can up that they won't introduce Dual Camera setup.
The biggest Samsung mistake is taking the fingerprint at the back.(same camera as last year, battery is the worst....) -.- (iphone 7-is better than s8)
AnonD-441601, 02 Apr 2017Asking 200 eur mre for almost same phone like S7 was is ridiculous. Samsung CEO are sick mids. 200 more , and one can't even warm up the Starbucks coffee with that new battery !
The lack of a home button and no double tap to wake means you have to pick up the phone to use the fingerprint scanner on the back or wear out the power button like it is 2011-2013 all over again before LG copied 2x tap to wake from Nokia in late 2013 with the G2.
I use Wakeup Touch Nexus to wake the screen but it can be annoying like Motorola Active Display because a nudge to wake it which kills more battery sometimes. Also, Google or Samsung should copy Apple with the notification toggles sliding up from the bottom. Reaching out your thumb on the S8 to the top shade to tap toggles is a nightmare.
Bixby - Don't need another voice assistant. Google Assistant, Alexa, or Cortana can all take care of me.
DEX - Is this Motorola Atrix again? If I want a laptop or desktop experience, I use my notebook like my MacBook Air. Done. I don't need docking hybrid gimmicks. My ASUS Transformer Book is terrible anyway as either.
Did a quick snap comparison today at another Best Buy with the S8 vs my G5, Pixel, and S7e. I preferred the G5 the best. Maybe because they all have different screens and the AMOLED ones tends to be warmer while the G5's is very dim and cold. But whites looked white and more realistic..
G5 has this secret weapon. The wide angle lens. Call it ugly. I don't care and neither does WALL-E. I prefer UGLY USEFULNESS over PRETTY USELESSNESS. So you lose, Samsung. No extra eyeball, no thanks Pirate. Never sacrifice practicality over dumb, useless aesthetics.
I do like that the S8 is narrower and the edges aren't as pronounced like what the Note7 had. The S6e and S7e can be very pronounced. But other than its newer, cooler design, what else is there? Nothing! Internally, it is NOTHING SPECIAL!
We will just have to wait and see with the S8. But I don't believe the hype and see nothing groundbreaking from it so far.
