Samsung Galaxy S8 Active detailed specs leak

Samsung Android

The first Galaxy S8 Active photos leaked on Monday. Now, there is even more info about the rugged Samsung smartphone after most of the specs were revealed on Chinese social network Weibo.

The Galaxy S8 Active will have a 5.8” Super AMOLED screen with 2960x1440 pixel resolution. That matches the specs of the Galaxy S8 panel, but there won't be curved edges this time around. Similarities continue with Gorilla Glass 5 on the front and the Snapdragon 835 chipset.

The big difference is battery capacity - the Galaxy S8 Active will offer a huge 4,000 juice pack, compared to the 3,000mAh battery of the Galaxy S8.

The memory combo is 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage with microSD slot for up to 256 GB more. The cameras are the same as the other two phones from the S8 family - 12 MP on the back, 8 MP on the front, both of them with f/1.7 aperture.

Since the Galaxy S8 Active comes with a polycarbonate back and metal rims it will retain the support for wireless charging. It's key advantage over its far prettier Galaxy S8 siblings is the MIL-STD-810G-certified shock resistance, which should give clumsier users a peace of mind.

As a downside the added ruggedness and larger battery have significantly boosted the weight to 208g - that's over 50g more than the vanilla Galaxy S8. Thickness has also increased to 9.9mm.

Sami all our phones are active - I have not seen anyone put their mobile phone in the closet for safe keeping. Now that this secret is out of the closet, all your high end phones should be MILT 810 G certified. I am pretty sure people will choos...

If Active came on the S8+ series and the Note8I would have grabbed one. For Millionth time: i care less about slimness as long as I can get better battery and more ruggedness.
