Samsung initially intended to launch the Galaxy S II with a processor clocked at 1GHz, but then it announced the dual-core beast inside is going to run on 1.2GHz.
User coolbho3000 over the XDA Developers forum managed to overclock the Galaxy S II up to 1.5GHz and scored some awesome benchmarks results. Check his video of the process:

have tried this and battery life is horrendous hopefully it gets redone and a new overclock kernel is released with better battery management
