I have Verizon Galaxy S3 that has a SIM card. I've been using it on Straight Talk with the AT&T SIM (GSM). I've been having problems with the service, so much so that I have considered buying the Straight Talk version of the S3. But it seems ludicrous to pay $400 for the same phone. Someone told me that despite having the SIM card, this is a CDMA phone and should be activated as such. Does anyone know if this is true?

I have a Metro PCS white gs3 cdma phone. How can I use it on an AT&T Network or Straight talk, etc?
The Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III (CDMA) now does have GSM. The first models did not come with it and required unlocking through CDMA workshop and other modifications. They now come unlocked. I believe there was an OTA firmware update to unlock the previous S3's retroactively.
Due to FCC regulations made this year, 2013, Verizon was forced to open it's devices to other networks. This was part of a conditional agreement regarding Verizon's purchase of the "C block" of frequencies from the FCC.
