for a 1080p video we need a sensor which is 2.073600 MP (approx 2.07 MP). That 30 fps is upto the CPU which can handle it

What a disappointment from Samsung.
I hate its display (make it higher resolution), CPU (make it quad core) and camera (make it at least 5MP).
I choose Transformer Prime over this.

Therefore technically you only need a 2.1mp CCD to recored 1080p. (this is assuming you can use 100% of the surface of the CCD and don't need extra pixels for additional processing).

@Rz same principle as a 0.7 Mpx camera can capture 720p @ 30fps. The iPod touch 4G for this case.

Rz, 13 Feb 2012How a 3.2 Mega Pixel camera can bring 1080p @ 30 fps ?It's possible and hardware can codify that resolution. Remember, Full HD resolution is 1920 x 1080 px, that's about 1.8 megapixel in non-squared (16:9) pixels.
Theorically, any phone with a 2.0 MP camera can shot videos in Full HD, but, the hardware that codifies the video is a key part in the process. Many phones with dual-core processors can handle this with ease, but single-core, sub 1 ghz ones struggles to even shot video at full VGA resolution.

3.2mp camera shoots 1960*1080 (1080p) , the same way it snaps a 3.2 mp (2048 *1536 ) picture , it all comes to processor and ram
