Mardok, 10 Aug 2016Just got the 6.0.1 update. Everything seems to work fine.its gr8 to know this tablet has marshmallow update. but,can i kindly have an opinion on whether this devise or is it worth waiting for sm-p585 .which has no release date yet.
Was talking to Samsung support UK. They said the update is rolling out, just be patient untill your device is notifying you. Hope it will notify me sooner or later.
Does anybody know anything about a marshmallow update for this device? The regular Tab A 9.7 (without the S pen) seems to have 6.0.1 available...

2015-Samsung-7/10 price range- and 132ppi screen resolution?! How think Samsung desiners about costumers?
k, 21 May 2016You should know this if you have bought it. i didnt buy it. its a gift.
I bought note 2014 edition p601 two days ago , i checked for update there isnt so i downloaded lollipop from sammobile.com and baaaam its working without any problems , with lollipop you will notice the difference in performance .✌
This Tab is great for battery life. If i have over 12 hours trip to make i dont worry even at 50% battery. My only complain is inability to use SD card on it.
Mediocre specs, but really good for students. I am using this for my postgrad degree.
I was thinking of switching up to this from my galaxy note 10.1 n8000 but when i compared the specs my current albeit older tab trumps this in many aspects, hmmm...
Been using the 8.0 16gb version for 6+ months
This phablet is good, 4000mah battery could last 1 day on gaming or doing works (only use wifi tho, turn off the mobile data) and s-pen works fine for drawing or taking note.
The 8.0 comes with 160 ppi and the same 720p, not really that good for watch movie, but still good for watching youtube and other streaming.
16gb internal memory is somewhat small since google and samsung installed built in apps that can't be uninstalled. you can expand with external mmc, but some apps and games data still saved in internal memory which is annoying
Snapdragon 410 is "just fine" for gaming, high end game may experience lag. 2gb ram is enough, even tho the system eat for about 800mb to just stay idle. Always close your inactive apps via multitask manager so it won't lag.
5mp primary camera is blurry and not fine at all, no flash either
Speaker position is weird for horizontal mode, only one side, and your hand may cover it. And speaker quality is not that good. I always use headphone for this problem
There's built in microsoft word, excel, and powerpoint, so you can use it for works, and 8.0" feels wide. No built in drawing apps, but there's a lot in playstore
Haven't experienced serious problem, but sometimes having a hard time with some aux cable. When attached, the screen may freeze or even restart the phablet, but works fine when already attached in good position.
Conclusion, if you need handy phablet with pen, samsung galaxy tab a is good enough for standard use. Multimedia is not really good since the camera, screen resolution, and speaker is not that good.
Nb : I use this phablet mainly for playing casual game, drawing, and sometimes write words document. And btw, i'm reviewing the 8.0 version. This may not apply to 9.7 version
