I have 2 Samsung tab S2, one bought as new 400 euro, the other this year as second-hand 100 euro Both work wonderful today , chrome, facebook, normal games. Not a huge difference from tab S6 for what need. I only wish that it had a bigger battery, 4000 mah is enough for a telephone not a tablet. And maybe android update to 9, even unoffic8ally can support android 8. But so far I do my tasks ok with a tablet this old.
But what is the best replacement for this tablet. There's no newer 8" Androud tablet that comes even close to its 5-year old specs.
It's been a good tablet but reboots at 30% now, antenna drops Wi-Fi a lot. It's time to get a new tablet with similar specs but can't find anything.
Kelvin ng, 24 Jun 2020after 5 years usage, is the battery degrade? After 5 years heavy usage, battery has 80% of original capacity
Have had one of these since it first came out in the summer of 2015. Would still be my choice of tablet except the battery discharges quickly it reboots when the battery gets down to 30-40%, sometimes sooner. I truly wish that Samsung had upgraded the Tab S 8" format along with the 10" format, but apparently they've left 8" to the Tab A, which is cheaper but has a less than mediocre screen and unacceptable performance, a POS at any price. If there had been an 8" S2 I would have bought it the day it came out even at Galaxy Tab S premium pricing. Given how much I use my 8" tablet, the increased cost per hour would be negligible.
I'm currently awaiting delivery of a Lenovo Tab M8 FHD. Screen looks good, although not quite up to the Tab S2, and a little heavier, but performance is better than the S2. 3GB memory and 32GB storage are the same, but the M8 will accept larger microSD cards, up to 2TB, the M8's Bluetooth 5.0 is an upgrade over the S2's 4.1 and Android 9 is a big improvement over the S2's 7. And a really big advantage: the M8 was only $125, which is less than half of what I paid for the S2 on sale.

Exactly!
This tablet is still king. It's so light and perfect for reading. I keep trying to upgrade but the weight increase of most new tablets ruins it for me. If you like reading comics online this thing cant be beaten. It's light with a beautiful screen.
Hi, I have had this tablet for four years now and I am still really enjoying it. Can anyone advise on the best software update for it since Samsung ceased any update. Is there any reliable rom ??
Joe, 24 Apr 2020Great tablet except it has never been upgraded past 7.0. I also have a Tab A 10.1 and it is ol... moreYou can try updating it with the lineage os. It did that and gave it a second life. Battery lasts longer, no overheating and so on. Give it a try.
Great tablet except it has never been upgraded past 7.0. I also have a Tab A 10.1 and it is older but has been upgraded to 9. Also have a old Lenovo and it is upgraded to 9. Wont be any more Samsung tablets in my future
Jimbeen, 17 Feb 2019Hi Can u put up 256gb card into your tab s 2. ??Yes I have inserted 512gb micro SD and it works well
My solve, 20 Oct 2019Why my tab s2 8 teh batery fast drain event my tab suicth off..It's the wifi setting, switch off when asleep
Had this for 2 years now at £220. Apart from battery drains fast, it still works perfectly. Its 8in screen is good for keeping in your pocket and still big enough to watch videos, movies or web browsing. Also it has been my GPS while hillwalking or driving in rental cars. I would replace this for better battery if I could find a similar Samsung Tab. Tab A 2019 has less resolution. Hope Samsung takes note.
This thing drains battery and runs hot when viewing YouTube at 1080p/playing games. But given that it's a tablet and about 3~4 years old now, it gets any job done pretty well.
My solve, 20 Oct 2019Why my tab s2 8 teh batery fast drain event my tab suicth off..This tablet is equipped with power hunger processor, more powerful than Tab A with S Pen, high screen resolution will drain battery faster, but the battery is only 4000 mAh which is nearly same with Galaxy Note series battery, do you know that new Galaxy M30s is equipped with 6000 mAh battery? 1.5x bigger than Tab S2 but in very compact body
I bought this tab jst some few months a go, unfortunately every I keep having issues with the screen flex and the battery connectors
Why my tab s2 8 teh batery fast drain event my tab suicth off..
