Alll Samsung Galaxy smartphone... moreAndroid 11 will be the last update of the 2019 tab S5e. That makes it 2 major android updates only. The 2019 tab S6 however, despite being released just 3 months after the tab S5e in the same year, will get 3 major android updates which means it will have Android 12.
The 2020 released tab S6 lite will already get 3 major Android software updates despite being cheaper than the 2019 tab S5e and despite having a mediocre Exynos chip. Must be Samsung's way of promoting Exynos powered devices which very few buyers like (inferior to snapdragon equivalents).

Alll Samsung Galaxy smartphones and tablets that came pre-installed with Android 9 Pie should expect another (final) OS upgrade to One UI 3.0 based on Android 11. This includes units still waiting for their first major OS upgrade to One UI 2.0 or 2.1 for that matter.

lunixxx, 29 Sep 2020does it run Neftlix on HDR?Nope. Both tab S6 and tab S5e have the same non-HDR amoled panel but weirdly enough, Netflix shows HDR titles on the tab S6 but not on the tab S5e even if both are incapable of correctly playing movies in HDR.

Nano, 30 Sep 2020is it supposed to be 3 major updates for phones or tablets after year 2019 ?Unfortunately, the S5e is not included from the list of Samsung phones and tablets that will get 3 year support which really is incomprehensible since there are only few differences in hardware between the tab S5e and tab S6 (processor, underdisplay fingerprint scanner). The S5e's processor is certainly capable enough to support S pen functionality but Samsung decided not to provide it to push buyers to buy the more expensive tab S6. Still, more people bought the tab S5e than tab S6 since not many care for the faster processor or S-pen support (the main difference between the two). Besides, the underdisplay fingerprint scanner of the tab S6 is inferior to the side mounted capacitive scanner on the S5e (more consistent and accurate; no frequent false rejection).
From a profit standpoint, the tab S5e was a mistake. Samsung gave it lots of desirable premium features - a high resolution amoled screen that's practically identical with the tab S6 and the same quality quad speakers and premium software with Knox, that's why the midrange S5e cannibalized sales from the S6. Samsung shortly outed the tab S6 lite which is poor in comparison to the S5e except for the S pen support. It's very difficult to find the tab S5e now. It seems Samsung discontinued it and rapidly replaced it with the tab S6 lite.

I didn't realise there was an edge panel on this tablet. I only noticed it after 2.5 update. How i missed that I don't know....

Very good tab like it dont use s pen so suites my needs for watching and surfing 128gb the best to go for also have an s10e that is a good phone good pair of devices also the software there rumoured to support longer as people are keeping their devices longer !

Anonymous, 17 Sep 2020I want to buy a tablet. so do you guys suggest this tablet or the tab s6 lite?If your not interested in spen then yes. This tablet is very good.. it got updated to latest software 2.5 with extra features in it. I have had more expensive tablets. But this one is amazing. The battery has surprised me. From display, performance , battery etc this is a great tablet. Hope this helps.
