Anonymous, 03 Aug 2020Yeah, as complicated as tapping a toggle for Dex.I'm sure you must be hurt by my 'you need to learn more about android' comment that I proved so convincingly in this forum SEVERAL times. :)
You had to fight back with a simple oversight I made, which I actually corrected because I mistakenly assumed that other users were going to use DEX mode the way I do - for projecting videos stored on the tablet to a big screen TV to avoid those ugly black bars.
Guess what? You can keep on repeating the oversight but like with any inexperienced user, you'll never understand my use case scenario unless you have experience with it. Clearly you don't. You probably don't have a USB C to HDMI cable. :)

The tab S5e was updated almost a month ago to Android 10. If you truly owned the tablet you'd have known in that long amount of time it was updated especially as almost everybody was talking about it and anticipating it.

I would like to know why my battery life is trash? I get like 10 hours of video if I'm lucky screen brightness is at 35% and I have battery saver medium on. It's weird that my tab a 2016 got 19h of screen time with video and music streaming but this new tablet can't even hit the advertised 13h. Also when will it get Android 10? The 2019 tab a got Android 10 first which is messed up. Thx for helping ☺️

The fact is, I use DEX mode in my tablet exclusively with a USB C to HDMI adapter because when I enable it, it is only when projecting videos/movies to my big screen TV to avoid ugly black bars all around. Do you even understand my use case scenario, or is it too complicated for you?

Phones need an adapt... moreYes, the tab S5e doesn't really need an adapter to turn its 10.5" screen into a desktop interface. But you may still want to use an adapter if you want a bigger screen than the tablet.
I personally use DEX mode when I want to play/project 4K videos stored in my tab S5e to my big screen TV. Wireless mirroring is convenient but there is degradation in playback smoothness and video quality especially for high bit rate videos (4K). Wired connection is still best especially for high bit rate 4K videos for maximum video quality and smoothness (no stutters, frame skips or quality loss from video compression).
For that wired connection, I use a third party USB C to HDMI adapter (UGREEN). I enable DEX mode and the tablet becomes a mousepad. The reason I enable DEX mode in the wired connection is so that the 16:9 TV doesn't mirror the 16:10 tablet screen which creates ugly black bars all around a 16:9 movie or video I'm viewing.

Anonymous, 31 Jul 2020Hi guys I want to khnow how long does battery last,when you are wstching movie or internet...It will drain 20% in about 2 hrs of movie watching while on wireless screen mirroring of offline Netflix downloads. Extrapolating, that's around 10hrs offline movie watching with screen mirrored to smart TV via Wifi direct. It may last longer if you only watch the offline download on the tablet screen as wifi is off. Streaming directly Netflix using mobile LTE data will certainly give you shorter viewing time than that because LTE consumes a lot of battery.
