edward99, 30 Oct 2014Love it, it can't replace a phone tho.comfortable or no
Not worth the money. Screen is hard to activate because touch screen is not very responsive. I have to tie a rubber band around charger to hold to watch will charging. Also get a constant sim card error. Forget calling samsung after holding for one and a half hours I gave up. Who wants a product from a company that does not want to address issues?
Now Sony has made its watch with ability of answering call and messaging independently from phone. Gear's users always must bring their phones to be able to call or message
If you're within Bluetooth range, it works like the Gear & Gear 2, utilizing your phone's Cellular connection to make phone calls, but if you leave your phone in the car or at home, when you make a phone call, yes the caller ID to the other person ends up on your new number... Not sure if that can be changed or not.
Pls help.. im so interested on buying one of this gear s but does anybody knows if it scratch proof pls reply ty!
Anonymous, 01 Dec 2014This is a standalone smart watch. It depends which network you purchase it on. You can purchas... morebought it a week ago with note 4 its awesome the only problem is battery doesnt last long but it has a little battery backup its great
I got the Gear S to test. First thing I found out is that it will NOT work with my SM-P905 tablet (international model) so will probably go back to my Gear 2. For testing I went ahead and got the cheapest 'phone' that would work which turned out to be the S3 mini. I love the Gar S but also love my tablet 'phone' & it wins.
If Samsung reads this, FIX IT to work with tablet phones and not just the Note 4 which really in;t a usable tablet.
Anonymous, 07 Nov 2014I just chatted with AT&T in the US online to see if you can use their $150 discount for sw... moreThis is a standalone smart watch. It depends which network you purchase it on. You can purchase it outright and get it on its own phone and data plan. I have worked for 2 of the major cellular phone companies and worked directly for Samsung. I was involved with the Samsung Gear S during its development. The issues that people are talking about concerning whether the smart watch is standalone or not is more about the marketing of the carrier. Samsung suggests which Samsung phones and recommended devices it can be paired with as an accessory and it can offer more functionality. If you choose to pair it with one of these phones you don't have to pay the stand alone charge for the separate data plan. Reality check, Keep in mind the carriers are out to make money so that is how they are positioning and marketing it. If you buy one outright it is already set up to function on any of the main cellular carriers and they have already set up data plans for them. If they promoted them to work as standalones they would loose a major opportunity.
New smart watch on maket: Weloop Tommy.
21 days on single charge amazing.
Simple watch with nofications monochromatic display .
best battery life on market
There needs to be custom ringtones and Notifications sounds. The one and only complaint I have. I have a few days left before I need to return it and this is a big issue for me. I will more than likely return it just because of this.
I charged the Gear S 2 nights ago so I am almost on day 2, about 37 hours now with moderate use, notifications for Messages and phone forwarding on. Have used the mobile radio on and off but not for extended times. Played with it on and off and am still at 22%. Also have the wake up motion enabled. Id say the battery life is about that of a smart phone. Wish it was a week but its not. Really like the Gear S, dont really need it as I have a smart phone but it a cool tech watch.
for better battery life diable display wake up gesture , gps go to 2g not 3g enable auto on/off gsm when paired with phone via bt
but most inportant disable motion diplay wake up gesture
