I charged the Gear S 2 nights ago so I am almost on day 2, about 37 hours now with moderate use, notifications for Messages and phone forwarding on. Have used the mobile radio on and off but not for extended times. Played with it on and off and am still at 22%. Also have the wake up motion enabled. Id say the battery life is about that of a smart phone. Wish it was a week but its not. Really like the Gear S, dont really need it as I have a smart phone but it a cool tech watch.
for better battery life diable display wake up gesture , gps go to 2g not 3g enable auto on/off gsm when paired with phone via bt
but most inportant disable motion diplay wake up gesture
1. It is not pairing with Note 10.1 2014 edition even it is written in Samsung and many web sites that the Galaxy Gear™ is currently compatible with devices running 4.3 or higher.
2.I cannot send and receive any Emails and other notification as standalone devices. The gear has to be connected with a compatible device via Bluetooth to use this function.
3.I cannot delete any application which installed on the gear without reset the device to the factory setting.
4.I cannot save or delete or edit the phone contact list.
5.The speaker is very low.
6.The GPS is not function properly

RaidenFury, 18 Nov 2014I hv bought this gear s, within 1 week use i hv a few minor scratches... so sad... no gorilla ... moreSomeone said "I hv bought this gear s, within 1 week use i hv a few minor scratches... so sad... no gorilla glass or saphire glass protection... poor UI, not very responsive n lack of sensitivity and also occasional stutter lag... high price, very nice design but very poor hardware..."
I too have had it for a week, the battery life is about like any other phone, 1 to 1.5 days depending on how its used. It will last at least a full day if using bluetooth for the most part like me. If using its sim Radio then probably a lot less. As far as the toughness, its like a dress watch, you dont get rough with it, you try to take care of it. As for stutter etc, I havent noticed any issues. The screen scratches, I put a bad azz screen cover on it just like I did with my phone so not too worried. Its a nice piece of hardware.
I have had my Gear S for a couple of days now and love the thing. My only complaints are the lack of voice to text when messaging and the battery life. The swipe does work well when using the keyboard but cmon it has s voice.
If you leave it in network always on mode or make lots of calls/text the battery is chewed in no time ~3-4hrs

Super Ali, 17 Nov 2014Hi..plz let me know if this watch is cased with Gorilla glass, also is it water resistant?, Go... moreIt is not quite clear that it has gorilla glass but i am not too sure.... it is however DUST resistant and WATER resistant.....dont get confused for water proof......
water resistant means it can be dropped in still water for no more then 30 minutes and the water has to be less then 3 meters deep.... but if u put the water in running fast water or under running water in the sing or take it below 3 meters it will mess up the watch....
Anonymous, 18 Nov 2014Will the Samsung Gear S make and receive calls without being pair to a smartphone? Please an... morewithout being connected to the phone by BLUETOOTH it will switch to NETWORK connection REMOTELY.... but you have to turn on call fowarding from the phone and device before you leave it behind or it will not receive incomming calls from the phone...it will be a STANDALONE device... the watch ahs a simcard and has its OWN NUMBER...so if u dont connect remotely and or by bluetooth to the watch it will use its own number and that means it has its own data and talk plan
The watch does operate standalone it has both hspa+ and wifi to connect to data/phone services. It also pairs up with any Samsung phone operating on android 4.3 and later. Which means I can be in California my Note can be in Texas and I receive all my messages notifications phone calls just as if the phone was in my hand. The watch can be connected to wireless bluetooth headset for those that feel silly talking to a watch. It has a web browser so it can do all mobile sites (facebook, twitter, amazon, google) the only thing I think its missing is youtube and video player. other than that this is a perfect smart watch, The screen is amazing and it has a fully functional swipe enabled keyboard with great auto correction.
