Ayush, 12 Nov 2014can we use it without connecting a device.,.,yes it has its own sim card slot. so you dont need a smartphone to be connected to make calls or texts.
this ugly thing is more expensive than Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo (320 Euro).
better get yourself Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Neo, it is more capable and has more funtions than this smartwatch
Does this device able to sync sms and call history if paired with mobile phone like on the Gear 2 ?
molly, 10 Nov 2014Just bought mine yesterday. Found :
1.Battery consumption could be very high under heavy usag... moreNote 4 owner in Malaysia could claim 20% to buy Gear S, right?
Yeah, it will be great if they could give discount on gear circle too..
I believed Telco in Malaysia will sell gear S soon..
Just bought mine yesterday. Found :
1.Battery consumption could be very high under heavy usage (receiving call only)and it's last for 8 hours only.
2. Many notification from social networking applications (fb, twitter, etc) are unable to work. Whatsapp and email attachment can't be expand and review.
But this samsung gear S work perfect on receiving and making call or viewing sms (/mms as well?)when it's standalone under multisim.
Samsung should offer 50% discount to buyer with gear circle if purchase gear S.
In Malaysia, no even one telco willingly to sell gear s or offer gear circle when purchase a note 4 (at the time of writing). What a pity scenario....
Hoping for an AT&T "Black Friday" smokin' deal on a Samsung Galaxy S4 Active and Gear S combo in the US! - $200 FOR BOTH ON 2YR CONTRACT WOULD BE SWEET -
Mr gear, 26 Oct 2014I like it very much, problem is Battery can't last one day, especially with the SIM Card.thats crap my battery lasts several days but why be whiny. How many days does your phone battery last? Some people are just made to whine and complain.
Anonymous, 07 Nov 2014I just chatted with AT&T in the US online to see if you can use their $150 discount for sw... morePeople are just never happy. I love mine. No its not a stand alone but I can leave my phone at home and this watch still works like a phone. I can Google on it and everything.
I heard that to get around the initial pairing on set up you can use a '25 press' hack. Does any one know if this would work and if so would the apps also work as expected without any pairing?
Went to an AT&T store here in America today and looked at the Gear S. Beautiful and surprisingly small on my wrist, not large at all. I'm 6'2" and 220lbs, but have smallish wrists for my size. It actually looked small on my arm and very stylish. Hope they get the "stand alone" ability worked out ASAP. Contrary to what AT&T online chat told me, the AT&T store said I can get this for $199 with a 2 years contract and $30 a month for Unlimited Talk & Text, with 300MB data (cheapest plan) as my actual cell phone (no pairing or adddition phone on the plan?). Not sure who is right at this point??? Waiting for the big 3 carriers to get the act together and activate a few of these before jumping in. Fingers crossed!
It's not a stand alone smartphone after all! What a let down in the US... Smasung has a great device that is screaming to be a stand alone phone. Why all the rediculous additional pairing requirements? So sad I can't buy and use the Gear S as my only cell phone. So, so sad... :-((
I just chatted with AT&T in the US online to see if you can use their $150 discount for switching carriers and porting your number over with this device. They told me this device is NOT CONSIDERED A PHONE, but an "accessary." That means you can not take advantage of their carrier switch offer. In addition, they will NOT let you use this as you only phone. They claim you MUST have a compatible smart phone too. What a bunch of BS! Can this be purchased in factory unlocked form somewhere? Can you just put your SIM in an unlocked Gear S and start talking? Or do you have to link it to a compatible smart phone to activate it?
For those who mad comments about "dumping their phone" and using this as their primary device. If you need a camera. I clearly state "IF". Your out of luck with this device.
