I can't wait to get this watch! I'm hoping they don't force me to have a cell phone. I have little need for a cell phone or voice service and the added cost would make it too expensive. I currently just carry a $10mo TracFone for my voice needs and work off of an $26mo iPAD. I need a good low cost data plan with little voice costs.
Wish they'd give a release ate for the USA!
@neil. Today I found the user manual for this watch. Yes, there is mentions of pairing. The wording is *can* , and not *requiered*. Firmware seems to be upgradable with Samsung Kies or OTA. I'm canceling my pre- order untill it's clear on how this actualy work and what devices are supported. I'm not going with a Samsung phone for a Samsung watch.
This device it the perfect companion for using a tablet as a cell phone. I currently use the Note 10.1 2014 (SM-P605) as my only cell phone. Yes this is an actual cell phone. It is the non US variant. It is so great using one device for everything. I use to carry around a cell phone and a tablet. I'm now of the opinion that any phone is too big as I don't what to put any of them in my pocket. So excited to pair this with my tablet.

It needs to be paired with a Samsung device with Android 4.3 or later. I'm trying to get Samsung to tell me if this can be anyone's Samsung devices but their last customer support person said that the device had to be registered to the same owner. My order on hold at the moment.

Are you 100% shure of this? That one must pair the Gear S to a Samsung phone. Anyone found a user guide for this? Have mine on pre- order, but will cancel if it's not a standalone Device.
in italy no date, no price, no idea, no retailers. absurde situation. so my next smartwatch sony version 3.

Not a stand lone device. You will need one of the latest Samsung phones registered to yourself to set up and download apps to the watch, so Samsung say. If you don't have one of the latest phones then no point in buying the watch.

Besides, its not up to me to judge between the British or English version as I'm not native to either. Yet I'm holding up quite well amongst many others who are in fact native to English (again not differentiating between different versions).
Yet again, one cannot be sure how long it took you to put your amazing masterpiece of reply together. I believe that could get you PHD.

Anonymous, 08 Oct 2014No wifi hotspot??This is damn watch.
Where do you want to push the antenna?
Found out today that Clove are selling this for £340 (incl. VAT) for the black model, as I am purchasing the Note 4 and possibly the VR headset, I will wait until the New Year in the hope that the price is lower, I may wait... Xmas bonus may pay for this, Santa may be nice this year...
As per all of the advertising, this phone can run independently of a mobile/cell phone device making it a good stand alone device.
However, does anyone know if this watch will work alongside a phone - for example my Samsung Galaxy S5?
I love the watch and the spec etc but no point buying this (for me anyway) if I cant use it as a partner to my phone.
Thanks in advance folks!

This is nore than likely because we gave them the simplest language in the world and they still can't grasp it.
Colour isn't hard to say or spell but you insist on the lazy option (color).
I do hope you find this comment spelt to your satisfaction.
Oh and by the way "articulate" is an english word for speaking not just a large wheel based lorry in case you were wondering.
