i like this phone because:
i liked the corby. but i wasnot able to buy it.
nowadays. samsung sphones has only the menu. home. back button.
i alwas wanted a phone with the 5 keys.
it has the dial button
the screen is locked by the close the line button.
for me ( as sb sais) the best phone ever!!! ;-)

i have rooted this phone and it is my best phone ever,the cpu raised at 768mhz but the ram memory is too low and i have android 2.3.7 and it is great for this phone and who thinks to raise the phone to 4.0 dont think about it because the games wont work properly and will have lag!! Great phone pls buy it!!

I bought this phone for my wife, to be her first SmartPhone. It is great value for the price and performs all of the functions which she requires. Without resorting to manuals or fora, we have been able to figure out all the necessary functionality and to resolve all challenges except one - when talking on the phone, we sometimes hear sounds like keys being pressed on a touch phone keypad. These being while the conversation is already in progress and continue long into it. Can anyone out there tell us how to get rid of this one annoyance in an otherwise highly appreciated phone? ... Thanks.

im using this cellphone for years and im upgrading the ROM to eclair - froyo 2.2 to cyanogen mod7 (10) new expirience jelly bean 4.1.1 the latest fastest rom of samsung ^_^ and i love it' this cellphone rocks everytime theres a new version of ROM no problem upgrading :D

nayana, 13 Oct 2012Hw can i upgarde it to 2.2 can anyone tell me????You can flash your phone's stock rom to Cyanogenmod. You won't be able to use the regular Cyanogenmod rom since it doesn't support the i5500, but you can go to http://madteam.co and install the Cyanogedmod port that they've created for the i5500. The Cyanogenmod 7 port is based on android 2.3.7 and the Cyanogen 9 port is based on ICS 4.0 (alpha).

My first and favorite phone! In December 10th 2010, i bought it for $120. But now, its very defased, i cant install the most of the games. For you new owner of Galaxy 5, i recommend MADTeam. ICS 4.0.4, Gaming ROM and other stuff so coool. Now i have LG p500.

Been using it for about 2 years + this phone had served me the best interactive android experience with reasonable price. I do feel ahead of any other phones available now because it can be custom in future use :D

so i have been using this phone for about 1 year...rooted and overclocked to 633 mhz with smartass gv...8 hours of voice call !! this cheap motherf***er is the best phone for daily use. That means like an average 3-4 h voice call,2 h music,1.5 h browsing, about 100 pics and aboput 50 mb bluetooth share and stiil enough juice to last you till you get home...so i highly recomend it!

The specs of the phone is right, i only have non thing to say this phone is awesome, foot listen to those negative comments, its a budget phone and does everything you want it to do.

Well, with two months of use (please don't ask me how), my phone plunged in to the sea.
D'oh... $%#@$. Okay... think. It's wet with sand and salt. It's not working. I have nothing to loose.
Look... Think... think... sink... sink... YES! SINK! I wash (actually I changed the sea watter for the sink watter, something really fast)... honey... I need your hairdryer. Two hours!
Nothing.
So, I quit. When I come back from my vacations I will buy another one.
Two days.
Let me try again. I still don't believe I loose my new phone... 'beep' Samsung 8)

Well, I have changed his system a lot of time wiht different mods and it is still working really fast, with long batt duration (since the sea, the batt still better, maybe something with the salt, lol).
I was thinking to take a S III, but this G5 is working so well and I love this gadget. No one will be so brave like G5

under mobile network settings,Enable always on mobile, tick mark which i had ticked to connect to internet does not change though i have disconnected the internet settings .i have shown this set to samsung mobile service agency and they say it cannot be repaired because the set is imported though i have bought it through ebay.in.kindly guide me ,it appears to be software problem.

Anonymous, 12 Sep 2012can we upgrade this phone? i did upgrade to froyo 2.2 what you need is I5500XWJP9 just google this code and download it from hotfile after that rename the ops file you must change i5508 to i5500 run odin put ops file put bootloader to boot put modem to phone put the file starts with pda to pda and csc file to csc dont touch any other options and click start but to do this you ll need to download samsung usb driver ,uninstall kies(if installed) and put your phone in download mod(this three must be done at the beginning and run odin as admin if progress stuck at a file just try it on another cpu or change cable or change usb port it s easy but complex :D)

The last phone I had was nokia 5230 that was a ok phone but now I have europa the phone is brilliant but the battery life is a just a joke
