Sagar, 03 Apr 2010Can someone please tell me about the GPS... does it have an application to show the speed n di... moreThere are hundreds of location based apps available at google market. GPS Speedometer is one of them. So don't worry.
Specifications for many GPS receivers indicate their accuracy will be within about 10 to 50 feet (3 to 15 meters), 95% of the time. This assumes the receiver has a clear view of the sky and has finished acquiring satellites. There is no question to use GPRS while there is already available the GPS module. The GPRS is helpful to find coordinates in some cases though, particularly when you don't get GPS fix. I use MyTracks app and the results are unbelievable. Didn't try VoiceNavigation from GMaps 4.0 yet, will give it a try ;)
man, 03 Apr 2010does it have qwerty keypad ?It has QWERTY keypad on the screen, not physical buttons.

Yes, you can replace default pantheon home with any other home launcher(s) available. The only thing you require is lots of patience and little more time. There are dozens of Mods available from samdroid.net and others. Hope this helps :)
Can someone please tell me about the GPS... does it have an application to show the speed n distance n time.....and is it accurate in Google maps.. or it uses gprs for positioning ????
and also in eclair has anyone tried Google maps 4 for voice guided navigation.???
From gsmarena's video on youtube about the eclair update for spica, it seems that spica's using the touchwiz interface...
would it be possible to disable touchwiz and just use the stock eclair UI?
Just posted Samsung Galaxy Spica/Lite/Portal Service Manual at my blog.

Anonymous, 02 Apr 2010I wonder, is it possible to upgrade to 2.1 or 2.0 designed for another phone(i.e. not Samsung... moreIt's not possible to be achieved by following any simple means, unfortunately. There are lots of lots constraints! Take an example of Video/Audio drivers. These drivers are specific to samsung and one need to know where and how to obtain those drivers and compile those with the generic 2.1 f/w. So things are not as straight-forward as they appear!
I tested most of the leaked v2.1 ROMs and learned that it is only Home launchers which are not snappier, else everything works almost smooth. And in that we can consider rooting our official f/w and replacing the default home with something more lighter and smoother e.g. GDE.
I wonder, is it possible to upgrade to 2.1 or 2.0 designed for another phone(i.e. not Samsung)and get better/same performance than/as current 1.5?
Samsung Spica is being Laumched on 3 Ireland network only €249 on prepay....great value!! Free on some pay monthly priceplans
this is bad..i tested the german version of the eclair firmware on this phone and felt there were many firmware glitches and it wasnt ready yet.. now gsmarena is going to review on 2.1..as i have read it on their blog they already feel it is not as good as on 1.5,,,i think they should thoroughly review 1.5 firmware on phone as well..or else this phone is sure to get low rating..
