Forums say Galaxy Spica will receive Android 2.2 at the same time when Galaxy S gets it officially
Anonymous, 24 Sep 2010I want to buy this phone so can somebody tell me if u can asign a different wallpaper for eac... moreIts one long image which stretches across all screens, so you could make one image with 3 different parts.
So I have had this phone for a few months now. Bought mine with Android 2.1 on it. There is no multi-touch and no Live wallpaper.
Screen is very bright, too bright most of the time I have to keep it on dim unless I am in the sunlight.
The phone can be laggy, in fact it can be next to unusable at times, when you are running a heavy application and a phone call comes in its impossible to pick up the call for 3-5 sec the phone wont respond.
Android is too resource intensive even for a 800Mhz phone, it has really poor performance.
Battery life is pretty poor, if I listen to some music I can barely make it back home with any charge at all, and if you use the 3G for any period of time then the battery is gone.
Can only install Apps to internal memory which fills up quickly, so you have to juggle ur apps. Plus when internal memory gets low you cant receive SMSes, very bad design.
The default eMail and SMS apps are very poor, no functionality at all, you need to install new ones from market which eats up space and slows the phone down.
The default Applications on Android for music/video/pics/Bluetooth/home screen are very basic which means you have to install new ones from the market some of which are poorly made and will lag the phone and kill the battery. This means you spend a lot of time trying to find the right app, very frustrating.
No easy way to sync things with the PC. Facebook Account sync doesn't work.
Built in Browser is very slow even on a fast Wifi network, have to use Opera Browser for everything.
The App Market is very poorly designed, hard to find anything.
A lot of these problems can be fixed with rooting and flashing your phone, but thats not the point!
The only good thing about this phone is the price, ridiculously cheap! For such a powerful OS and features Wifi/3G/GPS/BT etc. Its the poor mans Android lol.
I want to buy this phone so can somebody tell me if u can asign a different wallpaper for each homescreen pane? Or u have the same image on all of them? thx :)
Samsung stopped as it couldn't sell other phones while this was in market.
Flash it to 2.1 and it's a iPhone killer!!

To root Samsung I5700 you can read it in here:
Note: this guide is using older kernel, but you can easily apply newer kernel after you understand how it works.
Good info for Samsung I5700 user, we can easily set MP3 song for message tone, just make a folder named "Notifications" on your Micro SD and place the song you want to use in there, now the phone can detect your MP3 files in the sound setting.

mewtwo68d, 23 Sep 2010This is my perfect phone running on Eclair 2.1 with a little work to do to this nice phone: 1... morehow can i root it so that the downloaded apps will be directly installed at SDcard instead of the phone memory. i only have 110mb free space of phone mem.:(
This is my perfect phone running on Eclair 2.1 with a little work to do to this nice phone:
1) Root it to make it available for App2SD, the application installed on this phone won't consume internal memory anymore, currently I have 164 MB internal memory with lots of application downloaded from Android Market.
2) Apply SamdroidMod Kitchen to make it support multitouch and live wallpaper, work nice for me.
3) Apply Frozen Eclair on it to make it faster.
4) Install Touchwiz3 Launcher to make it have Galaxy S theme.
All the thing to do can be downloaded from Samdroid.net, just search for it, work perfectly for my phone.
Oltan, 20 Sep 2010pro > cheap android phone, cool touch screen ui, can download free apps at android market
... moreA thought from me, this is running a 800 MHz processor, big screen and few big things. I say this phone has a good battery life compared on this category.
Camera: I'ld say mobile should have a better camera which this is having, if you want a good camera, then it should be Canon or Sony...
Music: I'm not good in the sound clarity, all I need is a song to be played when I'm bored, this is okay for me.
nat, 21 Sep 2010about phone lagging, what kind of this case is happening most? when?.. please tell me,...thank... moreHi,
I too experience lagging sometime, but I accept that lag, soon I sent a msg and try to come out of the SMS inbox and trying to open another msg taking a bit delay which is acceptable. Apart from that while updating any applications from Market. No lag in Internet usage works perfect and fast too. Let me know when and how you experience the lag.
