1. "GSM only" then it will use 2G net work.
2. "WCDMA only" then it will use 3G net work.
3. "GSM/WCDMA(auto mode)" it will use 2G or 3G based on network availability.
one more thing I learnt that if international roaming activated then it (SIM) will not work in your own country.It happened in my case.

I own a Samssung galaxy 3 i5800. I like how it works but very dissapointed int the battery life. IT last a few hours just to talk.
The other draw back is that it disconnects my plantronics bluetooth headset.When i get a call while driving then it is not working.Telling me its paired but not connected.
How comes the Android OS is using at least 97% of the battery life Even after the apps are disabled ?

Chose modem and then pda. The good mode should be pda. Even if the modem is pda, switch to modem and then switch back to pda. I had the same problem but this worked. Hope it works for you too!

Surprised to see i... morec if u wanna specifically remove the 3G wat u can do is go to Application>Settings>Wireless & Network>Mobile Networks>and disable data roaming... this will surely solve d problem...don worry
