just got this phone 2 days back. this internet speed is wicked fast!
you can't imagine how lovely it is having unlimited data plan and surfing the net with your laptop using this excellent phone as a modem. wicked fast! that's all i can comment.
and the menus are so easy to use (spend 30 mins on the user guide first laa).
i say this phone is almost perfect!
just wondering if anyone knows if this phone would be able to use mtv urge subscription
Finally got my hands on this pretty thing in Dubai still enjoyin it does anyone know how to configure it for DU MMS and Data services?
i got this phone a week ago and had the same problem with the reception with others. i'm from the philippines and i'm using a smart sim. i tried using the phone with my smart 3g postpaid sim and i can't get through the 3g network. i have to default it to the gsm band coz i don't get any service or signal if i will select the band to auto or WCDMA. i tried to use my 2g smart prepaid sim and it worked pretty well. i think this reception problem would depend on the simcard you are using. i think this samsung phone still have to fix the issue with different simcards.
everybody who wanna edit documents on any ms smartphone can go to search this software: dataviz documents to go. it cost maybe 30 to 40 dollars. u can try search on ip-mart website for the keys... and hope u enjoy the only editor for ms sp...
Of the complains I read here, I did not faced one of them. on my Samsung all works perfect, there is no dust under the screen and there are no dropped calls. I owned 7 pda before from 02, dopod to HP and be honest we need to say, Samsung you made an existing tool better. I tried the E91i too and need to say, it is for sure not bad. but the samsung feels nicer
What office doc editor did you download? Freeware? If so, where can I get it?
smile is what you will do when using this phone, if you know how to handle windows phones, u will be more as happy with this samsung.
Just Received, been a Nokia fan mostly & getting to grips with Samsung layout. Windows mobile helps, but some features missing or can't find. Nice clear screen. Finally a small phone, loaded to kick ass. Can't wait for the update to this...
Great phone. I used Imate and Eten before and initially missed touch screen but this has now passed.More phone than PDA but has all the functionality I need. Small and easy to fit in shirt pocket. Downloaded program to edit office documents and can now edit on the run. No crashes in 4 weeks and still going strong!
use the pda for 1 day, easy to setup, easy to use, till now all goes really fine and little frilan is happy :-)
Now on my tenth Samsung and the i600 is fantastic. If you want a business phone it is perfect. It now saves me carrying a seperate PDA as well. It will never please everyone which is normal but if you are s Samsung fan and want a phone for business this is a good buy. Free in the UK with Orange!
I have now installed TV software so i can watch on the move.
I think this is exactly what I was looking for - now if only I could find it in the US for an affordable price....
ANyone care to help out? ;)
funny huh.. actually i find it funny when people use a phone till it hungs or gets jammed.
To me, a phone gets screwed if the person is also screwed up.sorry to say this, but its really true.
i'm currently using O2 mini and everything fits well despite hearing quiet a number of complaints here and there.
i truly appreciate all the great comments and experience from you guys. but the big question is, do you know how to operate the phone?
i can say i'm kinda of a heavy user myself but you need to know the limits bro.
after all, it is just a piece of gadget
so-called a CELL PHONE.
not here to offend any of you guys but do gain some IT knowledge first.
People that say this is a great phone need to use it first. I find it funny how the people that praise it aren't the ones that have used it yet. I almost feel sorry for you because you don't know what you are getting.
Following what I wrote, I decided to give up and not keep the i600. The fact that it kept dropping calls and then freezing up was annoying. I also found a new problem - the keys LOCK. After a phone call, when you try to hang up, it doesn't. The phone just freezes. You are constantly connected. I had to turn the phone on and off to end the call (and once even had to pop out the battery).
Also, please note this is a WM5 Smartphone version not a real WM5 so you can't do things like edit documents. It just doesn't work the same. The P990 has been out for awhile and I'm sure it too has issues, but the i600 isn't great. If you want a real smartphone go buy one. The HTC/O2/Dopod are real smartphones (I've had many) and you have plenty to choose from.
Lastly, yes the software is full of bugs and the other writer seems to have the same problem I had. It's not the network or your SIM card (I'm a telco guy) - it's the phone. You can try to work around this by manually selecting your network. That's what I had to do. It's a temporary fix but again, another annoyance to an otherwise fairly good designed phone.
Others here might want to wait for the Motorola Q/Q9 but initial feedback didn't sound very good as well. We just can't win yet.
If i were you I would not buy the P990i. I bought it three months ago and i totally regret it. it has a really bad qwerty keyboard and it the phone itself is very slow despite the three firmware updates SE has issued so far. It is very bulky and 50% heavier than the i600. I am not sure if the i600 has a touch screen or not though. good luck man...
